What a terrible choice of voices. The narrator / author has a speech impediment and gasps his way through even one sentence? Confused as to why they did not use a professional. There is a radio announcer / game show host as the other male voice? And there is this silly attempt at 'coolspeak' throughout the book that just detracts completely. The author sounds totally wooden even though they are his own words. Terrible. I'm sure the book is good but the audiobook is a disaster.
Terrible terrible voice. Cannot get one sentence out without gasping, is completely wooden and his silly attempt at coolspeak completely detracts from the message. Very hard to listen through unfortunately.
Please re-record this using suitable voices for the characters portrayed. This is a disaster.
This is almost unlistenable. Why would they not have employed three real actors for the roles?
As far as the book itself goes, Renard's attempts at humour made me cringe, although the content is pretty good if you're into ACIM.
Consider yourself warned!
Loved the sarcasm and humor, it made Gary come off as an average Joe, like me. I've been putting off the Course in miracles but after listening to The disappearance of the universe, I feel it made The Course seem more unattainable. This subject usually reads like a text book or lecture, lacking humor not this one. I just wished this version wasn't abridged.
No. Poorly read. The subject was interesting, but the Readers were horrible. I might recommend the Hardcopy Book.
The 'Universe' concept was interesting.
Wisecracking Ascended Masters?
The Author's voice was uninspiring.
The female Reader started out bad, you could hear her stumbling over commas, though she grew more proficient by the end of the book.
The male Reader didn't start out too bad, but was emoting like the announcer in a commercial by the end of the book.
I'll probably listen to A Course in Miracles, so I guess this book did its job.
I wonder if I can return this Book to get the money to buy the one it was advertising.
If those two clowns are Ascended Masters, I think I'll take up Buddhism.
no the narration was HORRIBLE!! all three of them are horrible. one sounds like Christopher Walken as a computer that breathes heavily, the other guy sounds like a movie announcer and then there is Doreen Virtue. LOL
the story and the attempt at being funny was a bit disappointing. the way it is presented makes it very hard to believe. he conveniently asks questions to try to convince the reader/listener that what is happening is real. the way the 2 "teachers" talk to him seem quite unbelievable. just seems like a big plug to buy the book Course in Miracles. he must have some connection to the original author.
I guess I am new to the Course of Miracles literature, which is why I have mixed feelings regarding the book. This at first seemed to be the writing of someone well versed in the Course of Miracles who used a fictional story to emphasize the concepts of the Course he felt were important in gleaning the basic tenets of the Course. Then I thought, many people probably believe the book is Non-Fiction, a direct message from God via messengers. At that point I did not know what to make of it. I am sure everyone differs on which fork in the road to take. At the end I do get the strong sense that this is a Non-Fiction book in the mind of the author. The narration is a mixed bag, does not overly impede the listening experience but certainly does not enhance it. I guess in the end it makes you think, at least for the more spiritually minded audience.
anyone who has ever wanted to understand and be at peace with yourself and those around you. listen a few times to really take in all that there is ....highly recommend it!
I listen to this book so many times and as I go I am changing and always understanding something else thats new for me. I will always use this book as my base (bible) for my new way of thinking.
It answered so many questions for me, that I was amazed, and it all made sense. It is a lot of information and it answers things like, why are there wars, addiction, love, hate and so many others. it tells us about God and Jesus in a real way that has nothing to do with religeon, but how there are so many ways to God and yours is your way and mine is my way and its all the right way if it works for you...... but my way is the real right way..., just kidding!
this was the first book for Gary R. he is just a regular guy and talks and acts that way and I find it so refreshing. there is such a need now in this time for common sense and I really respond to that.
I can identify with Gary so much about his life before DU. he has other books out there and of course i bought them all He talks to us like we talk to each other. He is really funny and gets right into all the... ya but what about this?.....kind of stuff
DU a new and easey introduction to A course in Miracles
this made so much sense to me thats why it changed my life. I would not pass this up for anything.thanks Gary because you came out of your shell and so I should be able to do it also.I am just a regular guy from Cambridge Massachusetts!
It's unusual message.
How it is told in a simple way, without trying to convince or prove an idea through intellectualism.
Do not apply
It's just that it changed my perspective about life.
No need. Go check for yourself.
The dialogue between him and the others is very well done.
The philosophy will radically change society I think
He has a likeable way about him.
The surprise ending
I love this book, check out also a course in miracles.
