I've had success from other Michael Connelly books, but the narrator killed it for me.
Probably not. I put the book down after about an hour or two because I couldn't get into it. The performance didn't sell it to me, just very plain monotone reading.
Twists and Turns with Poe Mixed in!!! Connelly did it again!! Thanks
Fell in love with Jack!
avid listener, during exercise and travel. Been doing for 30 plus years and probably will never stop. I am trying to read more recently, it requires more downtime.
Entertaining, exciting, suspenseful...
Jack the main character.
That husky voice that comes from years of smoking cigarettes, just like many of the characters in the novel.
This was an entertaining mystery novel that also gives some insight into child exploitation crimes.
The Poet is an excellent read; I love the twists/turns, detailed descriptions, detailed explanaiton of the characters, introduction of the characters, play-by-play of the life of the characters. The author keeps the reader's attention with the smallest of details to the intense lives of the characters without being offensive to the auidence/reader. I enjoyed trying to figure out the end. I couldn't wait to get to the end - yet I didn't want the story to end.
Never listened to B. Schirner before.
for a film - I would keep the tag line...The Poet
Micheal Connelly creates a character the reader can identify with, and his plots are not predicable and keep the reader or listener guessing.
good characters and plot.
believable with feeling
nothing extreme, just enjoyable
I listen to audible books on my kindle over my car radio on long drives and it really makes the time fly!
yes, good story, easy to read, fast paced, plot twists
plot and character developement
when I found out why the lake was so important to the central character
Don't be dissapointed by the tile of this review. It was supposed to get overall response to the story. Infact the story was quite solid and effective for most part. Except where the protagonist is left to witness whats going on, the story was excellent.
I love Michael Connelly's writing. I particularly liked this book because it is different from the Harry Bosch books in that it has a different set of characters. We do bump into some of some characters he has introduced in other books but the perspective is new. In addition since the angle is from that of a journalist instead of a cop or a lawyer, you can tell it is familiar ground. Connelly was a journalist prior to becoming a famous author. In fact my son who is studying journalism at the University of Florida is quick to point out that Connelly is a graduate of the same J school. In this book it shows. His main character is a writer for the Rocky Mountain News. He chases down his brother's killer and uncovers a serial killer.
The way he can change his voice to play so many different roles.
No, I like to stretch out the fun.
