I'll give everything a try
After reading The Giver, I decided to read mesenger. I had hope that this book would be as good as The Giver. I was a bit disapointed however. In this book the author left too much questions unanswered. In The Giver, she did leave some questions out, but thouse aren't impprtant questions. Besides from that this book is great.
I read the Giver (the first book) when I was in 4th grade and fell in love with the story. I didn't know until this past year it was part of a series! The messenger is an awesome story and I love how it links the giver and gathering blue together
No, I love the genre.
He did fine
Many... there were just too many holes in the entire story. So many lose ends. The characters were boring, the resolution was unsatisfying and too simple, the gifts are unexplained.
I'm done with this series, which is sad for me because I truly loved the Giver. It honestly doesn't even feel like the same author to me. It's just too different of a world and the characters are naive and poorly conceptualized. I struggled through this and Gathering Blue, but I won't be struggling through the next one
listen to audiobooks while working in the lab ;) Makes everything more interesting
had to get used to the narrator but he was quite good. the music in the beginning and the end is a bit annoying though, I wouldn't do that in future books. The story is a bit predictive but it is nice to hear what happends to Jonas, Matt and Kira.
This book tries to say all the things that where left unsaid over the course of the first two books and tries to bring up to speed new readers.
So much and in a much shorter book, makes it confusing and unfocused.
Of the four Giver books this is the one I least understand. Was this book necessary? It could have been a part 2 to Gathering Blue. It could also have been a prologue to Son. If it weren't because Matty was such a loveable character I would have rated this book a two. The title is misleading, it's not about a Messenger but rather the message. This brief saga, which could have been more emotionally touching, felt forced and rather short of sensitivity by the other characters. Read it if your committed to the series, otherwise pass.
