Apologies to all the other listeners that loved this book, but a bigger collection of cliches, obvious plot twists and appalling dialogue would be hard to find. This is without doubt the worst audiobook I have downloaded. I found myself rolling my eyes, and remarking out loud to myself at the lazy writing, and sensasionalist reading style. Way too much gravitas on every line ! Complete twaddle, and not enjoyable , just annoying. Don't waste your credit !
After reading all those brilliant reviews I now feel like some kind of freak - I am part way through listening to this book and bored to death! The characters are so two-dimensional and cliched that I just couldn't give a hoot what happens to them. My first Audible failure!
"Better than the film"
The film does not really do it credit as much is left out. The book is much better as explains the depths of the plot and gives it credability. However, there is a lot to take in and it is not helped being based in Rome with much in Latin/Italian so this at times makes it confusing hense only 4 stars
"Good to start"
Gripped for the first two thirds or so but then I found the conclusion a little too surreal. Quite an entertaining idea, and very well read.
"Angels and Demons"
One of the best audio books I have listened to in months
"4 out of 5, the audio spoilt it!"
This was absolutly amazing to listen to, so captivating! But my god, what's wrong with the recording? I felt like I was listening to a cassette for the first couple of hours (then I got into it and forgot all about that!). I'd recommend it to anybody, but please audible, get better quality recordings!
Total twaddle from start to finish. Scientifically a load of old cobblers.
However it is highly entertaining and thrilling. A real 'page turner'. The reader does an excellent job. This is my first audio book from Audible and it has proved to be an excellent introduction.
If you can put aside daftness of the science I totally recommend it. 18 hours of pure enjoyment.
"Easy to listen, easy to forget"
As I am not a native speaker I usually choose "easy", popular books to practice English as a second language. Somehow this book was too easy, too light to my taste. I felt that the whole plot is somehow volatile, artificial, predictible. I am sure that I never want to re-listen it again, but I enjoyed it at first time enough to give 3 from 5.
"An absolutely excellent read"
This is an absolutely amazing book, Dan Brown really brings the characters in this books to life and his special writing techniques help take you to the heart of Vatican City along with Robert Langdon and his companions.
This book kept me wanting more throughout. I have only recently started listening to audible but have to say this is one of the best books I have listened to on here.
