This book was pleasant to listen to. It's not deep or complicated, so it's OK to stop & start listening. The little mystery vignettes are somewhat disconnected, but there is the common thread of the main character's simple but interesting life that ties them together. It was nice to get a flavor of what life is like in Botswana.
I thought the narration was very well done. The story started off a little differently from what I expected, but overall I enjoyed the book quite a lot.
Mma Rawsotwe is a clever, independent woman, who loves her native Botswana. This story has interesting characters, a colorful setting, and a delightful narrator. It is such a pleasure to hear the story spoken with a native accent. One of my top three favorite audible books - ever!
Great story - the reader Lisette Lucat brings the richness of the story alive with her voice. A full 5 star rating - have already ordered ALL of the other books by Alexander McCall Smith based soley on his skills in telling the story of Mma Ramotwse
I've heard this one and Tears of the Giraffe -- first of all, the narrator is perfect. I'm so glad I got these from Audible, because the accents and pronounciations add so much to the story. They are about Botswana as much as anything, so the voices are very important. Other than that -- great stories.
Delightful book. It was very unusual and refreshing. I'm amazed that this wasn't written by a women. Great read!
A gentle story about a gentle woman. A woman who does not make personal judgments but understands human faults and sometimes overlooks but most often forgives. This is not a narration but a painting. The descriptions of the characters and Botswana are so vivid you swear you met these people and been to these places. Very nice read. Sweet ending.
