The character of Jane Eyre sometimes frustrated me and the way she was written made it hard for me to comprehend her actions at times. However, I was captivated by her story until the very end, wishing her a happy ending.
The narration I found to be a little overdone at times. Male characters spoke in such exuberance that would in reality be far fetched for most females. But I found all other aspects of the narration enjoyable, and the few flaws were not so bad as to take away from the storyline.
I might. There were parts of this book where the narration was fabulous!
I was rooting for the characters through their trials.I was happy that Jane got help during the storm and in the end was able to return the favor and then some.
Jane was my favorite. The way she held her head high was outstanding.
No! There was so much going on that you needed a break to process all that happened. I was, however, ready to get back to it as soon as possible.
I found that my diction mirrored the reader after a while. It was fantastic to notice.
This is a fine presentation of a great novel. The characters and the twists and turns of the story come brilliantly alive. This has long been one of my favorite books and I like it even better after taking in the audiobook.
I've always been an avid reader, but as a mom I have few moments in a day to pick up a book and read. Audible is my lifeline to literature!
This book was excellent. Ms. Bronte did an excellent job of telling several seemingly totally separate stories and then bringing them together at the end. As I went through I had to remind myself that each new place she told us about was still connected to the last place, but not in a bad way. I had been putting off reading it for a long time because I was daunted by the idea of getting into classical literature, but once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it!
The narrator was also excellent. She did a great job differentiating between different accents and voices in a way that was distinctive but not distracting. I'll definitely be looking for more of her work in the future!
I would recommend this book because it is well written and one of the classics.
Couldn't pick just one.
Everything! She makes each character come to life and gives such meaning to the events in the story.
Never give up.
I was wonderful to revisit this book through the narrator. It felt like an old friend come by to talk.
yes. It is a timeless story and the narration is beautifly done.
I am not sure
not extreme, but I often get hooked into the books I am reading.
Yes I would, as a matter of fact this is the second time I listened to it, it is a great story
When Jane tells her stepmother how dreadful she is and how she wasn't following her fathers wishes.
Yes, it was a book I could really get involved in.
It was easy to see why this book is considered a classic.
Classic done right.
Jane, of course. Just think of a world where everyone lived by her ethics.
The difficulty in listening to books you're already familiar with is that there's a tendency to "zone out" occasionally. Some narrators read in a repetitive manner which makes it very difficult to stay connected to the story. Susan Ericksen's performance had me riveted! Listening to a story with the appropriate accent is sometimes better than just trying to imagine it while reading! I almost never read or listen to anything twice, but will definitely listen to Jane Eyre again. In addition, I will look for Susan Ericksen's name when looking for new books in the future.
I have listened to other performances of Jane Eyre that were dry, flat but this Brillance Edition is Excellent and vibrant.
