I will listen to NO boring book. Old Fav's,Card, King , Hobb. New Fav's, Hill, Scalzi, Sawyer, Interested in Lansdale, Crouch, Konrath
You know how some guys get car fever and just have to have a new car, to the point they lose all common sense. I am that way with books. I should have known this was not something I would be interested in. It is very well written and I could even see myself in the character. ( How when we are young and your walking down a dark street and you hear something coming and your mind comes up with stuff you read in fairy books.)
If you are following me, cause you like Zombies, Science Fiction or Historical Fiction, then my rating has to be true and this is a girly book for girls.
If romance is your thing, you will probably love this.
Jane Eyre is my all-time favorite novel. I have read the book too many times to count and watched all the movies, yet still come back to the book for a refresher. As the story goes, there are circumstances that seem unbelievable. Such as Jane believing Rochester's explanation of the madwoman of Thornfield. Or Jane happening to knock on the very door of a cottage where her cousins live even though she never knew of their existence. Finally, the way Jane finds out that her beloved Rochester has been hiding a secret. Still, the narrative, characterization, dialogue, and prose are so delicious that we can suspend our disbelief, ignore plot problems, and become totally engrossed in a classic story of passionate love. Come for a great romance, stay for a fantastic interpretation from a fabulous narrator..
Mother of 2 teens, alternate between reading for educational enrichment and pure pleasure. Like to run, bike, hike, and dance.
Loved the story of a young girl who overcame odds and was somewhat of a feminist in an age when it wasn't cool.
When she visits after a year's absence.
true love between kindred spirits, thou shall overcome!
The author uses a rich vocabulary and full of details scene descrition to cacht the attention of the reader.
Its impossible not to get involved with the characters and to try to support Jayne Aire in her journey.
A fantastic novel greatly narrated…
This story comes alive in the narration. I know that sounds like a commercial, but I am absolutely serious in making this claim. Not only is Susan Ericksen's narration wonderful, but Charlotte Bronte's writing style is gorgeous! If you shy away from the classics because they're too wordy, or the words seem to be in the wrong places, give this one a try. I had no trouble at all following this story and it was such a wonderful one. I thoroughly enjoyed this recording.
Yes!! Although it is slow to "read" at times, it was a delightful listen!
Honestly, Ms. Ericksen's performance. I don't think I ever could have imagined the characters as vividly as she portrayed them. That was a delight!
The characters come to life. She spoke with an English accent, of course but her Irish characters were impressive!
No just because it was slow-moving at times but it was a delightful listen!
I would consider this a must "read!"
Excellent audio book! I love this story and the narrator was very very good. If you like the classics like Austin books then you will love this book. I couldn't stop listening, especially towards the end. I have seen movies and miniseries based on this book but they do not do it justice. Timeless romance! This is one of those audio books that I would definitely listen to over and over again.
The narrator speaks very fast. This book usually takes a long time to get through but I felt it was made quicker by the narrator. She had a pleasant voice and I quickly adapted to the speed of her speech. This is one of my favorite classics and was even more enjoyable to be able to listen to it.
One of the best.
Mr. Rochester has always been my favorite character.
BOTH! I did find myself laughing and crying...
Great job! This is my third time "reading" this book - first time listening. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books - the audio version does not disappoint!!
I would recommend this , it is truely a classic. Somewhat hard to understand simply because of the sophisticed language used.
Of course it's Jane, this woman overcame many obsticles in her life but stood by her priciples.
The reader was fantastic and was able to capture of the emotion of the charactor.
I would have like to but I broke it up over a few day.
Everyone should listed for the lessons that can be learned from it...never give up, stick to your principles not to mention the english lesson as in how to properly speak.
