"Excellent starting point"
Bill Bryson has given an excellent introduction to the history of some of the most basic and fundamental scientific theories in existence today. I wish I read this before I went to university. A very interesting read (or listen)!
Opened my eyes to the universe from the grandeur of the cosmos to the intricacies of quantum physics. It also introduced me to some of the wonderful physicists of the past and present to whom we owe a great debt.
I liked the honest and non-arrogant approach to an attempt to understand..... nearly everything. It is Well written and told.
"Bryson at his best"
Fantastic, something you will want to go back to time and time again! Bryson's finest work (and I've got all of them!)
"A heavy read"
A very interesting and fact-laden book. Reasonably well narrated by William Roberts, although his foreign accents are something to be laughed at. Do I remember any of the details of the book? No.
do you are you are you are you are not the way to me a few days of the first
"Amazing and amazing!"
Brilliant book, entertaining and we'll written (as well as well read of course!).
Easily understandable and engaging that even kids will be fascinated in learning more.
"A must listen!"
Great length, very entertaining, informative and the narration is excellent. I'd been looking for a book that explains clearly how (almost) everything works and this one fit the bill perfectly.
I normally love Bill Bryson books but just could not get into this one, just seemed to drift and nothing happened
"Third listen - still fascinated"
A work of art. An active fight against ignorance and fuel for curiosity across all the various spectrums of education.
