"Detail, details and more"
The book was an amazing attempt at getting so much information across in a short period of time. Not a book for someone wanting an easy listen but really interesting.
"fantastic listen from beginning to end."
I never thought I'd find some of the subjects covered so interesting. quite honestly and with no exaggeration, this book changed the way I view the world.
"What a load of facts"
For me the book, although good, struggles to transfer well to the audio format, facts come thick and fast, and I personally found it difficult to keep up, especially while driving
I bought the book first and found it harder to read than BB's travel books. This audiobook was much better for me. I have no further problems.
The book is very engaging and is read very well. I would definitely recommend it.
Well laid out, easily understood, thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable.
The performance was excellent and I believe conveyed the wry amusement, joy and wonder in the book.
Really interesting facts and figures about just about anything to do with the world. Amazing stuff.
"A slightly speedy history"
I bought this having failed to finish the paperback, but found Roberts' reading a little too fast - it needed more concentration than I normally give audiobooks. In the end, I bought the abridged version, narrated by Bryson himself, and found it much easier to listen to
This book is for everyone with a vague interest but lack of understanding of all fields of science. To tell a quark from a quasar or a limpit from a llama this covers just about everything you wish you knew about everything.
As the title suggests this is wide ranging and stimulating throughout - highly recommended for anyone with an interest in the universe our planet, science and human history.
