It is a good listen for the age the group. Easy and simple to follow.
I like that it is from a perspective that we don't normally hear about.
The Forbidden Game series (by L.J. Smith) comes to mind. It is a bit dark, fantastical world that we get to explore and very intriguing.
Every gasp, moan, whimper, yell, scream, exclamation, pregnant pause, etc. etc. She brings emotion to the story that I would have to imagine if I read it on my own, which i could do, but listening to her makes it so much more enjoyable. She is able to draw me in with her own interpretation. I feel like I'm watching a movie instead of listening to a story.
Yes, definitely. It was hard to go to sleep because I wanted to keep listening. It was hard to get my work done because I wanted to keep listening. It was hard to get out of the car because I wanted to keep listening.
Great book and series so far. I wish I had more credits because I want to buy and listen to the rest of the series. So far I can't get enough.

Great follow up for those who read the 0.5 book. Kaylee was finely given some answers to her "problem". Along with several great pieces of info for the murders at hand. We also fine out more about her past. It will be interesting to see what direction Vincent take Kaylee.
Narration is great as well. Ms. Ronconi has great feeling in her reads.
All around good book.
I listened to the prequel before reading this book and I had loved it. I thought it would be about "mutants", psychics, or perhaps angels & demons. So I didn't expect what this book was actually about. It was a little juvenile which if you are in high school then it should be a good read! However, I won't be continuing with the series. It was interesting enough that I enjoyed listening to it and I completed the book. The performance was pretty good. I did look forward to listening to the book so please don't consider this review as a negative one. I just enjoy a little more of a mature YA book. I listen to YA because I like PG books, just because I am an adult does not mean I want to listen to books that include rape or drug use. If you enjoy stories with characters in high school then this is a great book. Just won't be continuing the series but I enjoyed it while I listened.
This book is full of suspense and teenage angst. At times you will find yourself on edge waiting to see what happens, and others your thinking to yourself, seriously are you THANT dense?! Kaylee and Nash make a great couple, but I'm hoping in future books the author will bring into play that socially they are on opposite sides of the school and see what kind of drama that can stir up. I'm acutely interested to find out more about Todd as well, I think a love triangle would be a great twist in the future!
Overall it's a really good book and I'm excited to read the next one.
I was actually surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did being that there are no vampires...
Audible was having a sale and I found this book among the titles, my deciding factor was the narrator - I've listened to several of her books in the past and enjoyed them so I figured, why not give it a try.

This book was awesome, I started listening after having read the free prequel story My Soul to Lose which made me ask "what the hell is she?!" this story give the answer to this question but raises a whole lot more question that are explained through the book though the book ends on a "is it really over?" vibe which of course it isn't because there a more books! I'm so excited to continue this series and find out what else happens.
I am far, far from being a teen, but I really enjoyed this first book of the series. Rachel Vincent is an excellent writer and the main character, as well as all the others, are nicely realized.
One of my favorite genres is urban fantasy (I think that's the term for paranormal in a realistic setting), and this book accomplishes that very well. So well that I got involved in the lives of teenagers in high school, something that I could relate to like Buffy, the vampire killer.
Amanda Ronconi does a superior job bringing the characters to life.
I am on to the next one in the series.
Not sure yet. I am willing to try the second book.
I did not see that coming.
