I love to read... love to listen while I walk my dog, Sally Jo.
The narrator is excellent! She really worked to keep the characters believable and interesting. I enjoy stories that are different and about "real" people. I do not hesitate to recommend this series of books -- they are fun, great to listen to, and easy to get involved with. I look forward to the next book.
This book was amazing. I listened to it while I was at work, and I actually found myself dreading breaks and lunch, and even going home simply for the excuse of listening to this book. I try to listen to books only while I'm at work so I have something to keep me sane, but I found it very hard to not just bring out my Zune at home and start listening to it once I walked in the door. I didn't regret getting this book even for a second.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
With so much supernatural books out in the market today, there is not a lot of new ideas. This book was great in that it used a new idea for the story. This is the first book that I have read about banshees as the main characters. Although it is a teen book, still worth the read.
I really liked this series. This is actually my 2nd listen. I love the Nash -Tod dynamic. I remember being eager to listen to the next book to find out more about them. I also liked that Kaylee seems more real than alot of the heroines in other stories, she's good but not too good to be true. She feels guilt for some actions but doesn't say or try to act like she'd change things just becus of a bad counter result-her reason for her action is her bottom line good or bad & she pretty much sticks to that. Nash also is a bit more realistic by owning his past with others & not being the falsely accused player who's just misunderstood. He doesn't brag about his past with other girls but when asked doesn't deny either anything either. They aren't perfect but that's more real than a story with a 16yr old good looking jock who is really a virgin & who's been falsely accused of being a player. It's a good story.
The narrator did a great job. She is very good with voices & stressing emotion without overacting.
I had listened to menagerie, which I loved and cannot wait for the next books in that series. So, I looked for more from this same author and found the free prequel to this series, which got me hooked, but this story fell a little flat for me. I listen to and read a lot of YA, but this was more for a pre-teen. I won't be listening to the rest of this series.
I do read a lot of paranormal but I am not sure I am into teenagers as the main characters simply because I cannot relate to them.
Most of the books in this genera have vampires, werewolves, fairies, gargoyles, etc. but this has banshees as the focal characters. Nice change but it did not follow the original mythological character lore.
The ending didn't make a lot of sense to me but it was something I did not see coming. It seemed like the author had run out of writing time and just needed to put the story to bed and took the first “shot in the dark” that came along. It was not a very satisfying ending. Don’t think I will be reading any more of the series.
I read these while they were coming out new on kindle. I loved them so much I thought it would be fun to listen to them (especially since I only paid $4 for them.)
I did have a couple stupid little issues. I hate how she depicts Todd's voice. I know it's a stupid little thing but the voice doesn't come near describing the goof he is in the series and for some reason it really bugged me.
I also hate when music and sound effects are added. I really think that detracts from the books. I almost didn't get it because of it. But I'm glad I over looked the music (which thankfully was only at the beginning and the end) and got it anyways. Such a great story.
I enjoyed meeting the characters in this story. The main character discovers new things about herself and her world causing her to get more comfortable with herself. She learns that some of things that she thought were weaknesses were actually abilities that she had not mastered yet.
She becomes more sure of herself at the end. The support characters help the balance out the story and reflect the world around her.
