This is a light listen, but certainly not a fluffy book to discount. I empathized for these teenage girls as they embarked on their own personal adventures and was greatly moved by some of the more poignant story lines. I would highly recommend this book, especially for a female teenager or anyone who wants to revisit those rollercoaster years. There are some harder issues that the author handles with care and leaves you to imagine what is going on without having to be explicit. I thought this book was much better than the movie as certain characters in the movie were overly simplified. Angela Goethals narrated brilliantly.
The "sisterhood" keeps you in touch with your youth. The narrator made this book come alive. I would look for other novels narrated by the same - a wonderful listen!
Cute little story. I thought well of reading the book before watching the movie because in the end the movie turned out to be disappointing in comparison.
I think this book appeals to a younger crowd, even if for older people it can be regardless a beach read or (what I did) a perfect listen while doing house cleaning!!
I especially enjoyed Lena's story and since I noticed it continues in the next book I'm looking forward to hearing what happens next.
To end this review... even if the book has a simple storyline it leaves you something at the end and has a nice moral, this is what I define a good book.
I loved this book! The reader is excellent, and because of her (and the great story) i have also purchased the 2 other books from the series. These books all have excellent characters and really pull you in! I would most certainly recommend that you read this book!!
I read this book thinking that it was written for an adult audience. I was greatly disappointed. I find no faults with the storyline or execution, but don't buy this thinking it is going to be intellectual in any way shape or form.
Excellent read for those that think reminiscently of their teen years. Evocative of Judy Blume and other such writers that aim at the 'tween years.
316 audiobooks in my library and counting. I'm an addict but I'm not sure I'll ever seek help.
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The characters, while young and thus stubborn to the point of annoying at times, were beautiful, young and energetic. I found myself cheering for them and crying along with them. While this book isn't the deepest or most introspective, it was very entertaining. I would highly recommend it to any woman who'd like to be reminded of her own childhood.
This was a cute girly book. I am almost 30, was bored of the books I was reading, wanted something fluffy and fun in the summer. This did the trick.
