I listen to books while I run, and there were times when this book was so emotional--mostly because of the deep engagement of the readers--that i started to cry and ran out of breath (so, not the best book for running, but who cares?!) I loved the writing, the storyline, and especially the way the book was brought to life by the four narrators. I wish it hadn't ended!
This book has stayed with me. It captures you from the very beginning and won't let go until you finish. The characters are so intriguing!
I enjoyed the different narrators; each character seems more alive and the story took on a lot more meaning.
In the vein of To Kill a Mockingbird, but more mature. The three women who read the book bring it to life. A wonderful audio experience, better than reading the hardcopy!
This book was beautifully read by all four narrators. I listened every chance I got. I cared about each of these characters. I hated to end this wonderful journey to Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960's.
I really enjoyed listening to this. I grew up during that time, so I could relate. I loved hearing the different points of view in different voices.
At first I was unsure about the idea of multiple readers, but it was a perfect choice for this book. Each section has it's own rythem and personality, and having different readers for each of the major characters was a wonderful addition. This book was at times laugh out loud funny, heartwrenching, and unbelieveable that it all took place only 40 years ago. Beautifuly written, I really did not want this book to end!
This is an amazing book and the narration is outstanding. I didn't want it to end! You absolutely feel like you really know the characters. Definitely you want to listen to this book!
This book was fantastic, the narrators were some of the best I have heard. I was sad to have it end and would recommend it to anyone. Great story line, great character development and great narration!!!
