...for writing one of the finest novels I have had the opportunity to read/hear.
This book may very well become an important contribution to American literature. Congratulations!!
The narration was excellent, the story was always keeping me in suspense. There were times I felt embarassed to be a white woman. A wonderful story of secret friendships and fighting for whats right!
This first time novelist has hit a home run with this book... the narrators of the book on the audible version just enrich this already fabulous book. The women in the book are from all walks of life and give everyone a taste of life in the deep south in early 1960s.
A well written story that examines a topic that is at first, painful, but then peals off many layers to show the complex and conflicting relationships among these women. It is also witty and charming. The narration is the best I have ever heard. Once I got into the story, I could not stop listening. Compelling.
Great narration for a well-told story. The readers were spot-on for their characters--I haven't heard a better narration in the hundreds of books I've listened to. The characters are complex and the story compelling and surprising.
I absolutely loved this book. I can't wait to hear more from Kathryn Stockett. The narrators were excellent and I enjoyed their accents tremendously. I recommend this book to anyone who is on the fence. I laughed and cried many times. I got to the point where I wished it were longer!!!
I have never supplied a book review but this book is so good that it must be lauded as much as possible. I cannot add much to the rest of the postings here except to say that the audible version of this book (along with Jim Dale's readings of the Harry Potter series) is the epitome of what audible can do for a book. Congratulations to Penguin for a masterful rendition.
I can see why this book has remained on the best seller list for more than a year. It is a gruesome and heartbreaking reminder of the stain the South and religion has made (and is continuing to make) on our country. I would give this book 6 stars if I could. A must read.
I'm almost to the end of this audiobook and it has been delightful. The narrators did a great job with the Southern dialect and the story is truly entertaining. I can't wait to see how it ends!
The story was very enjoyable and the narration kept me listening far longer than I intended. Set in the beginning of the civil rights movement, this story helped to see a bit of the everyday courage it took to live during those times. Very well written and excellently read.
