This book was beautifully read by all four narrators. I listened every chance I got. I cared about each of these characters. I hated to end this wonderful journey to Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960's.
I really enjoyed listening to this. I grew up during that time, so I could relate. I loved hearing the different points of view in different voices.
At first I was unsure about the idea of multiple readers, but it was a perfect choice for this book. Each section has it's own rythem and personality, and having different readers for each of the major characters was a wonderful addition. This book was at times laugh out loud funny, heartwrenching, and unbelieveable that it all took place only 40 years ago. Beautifuly written, I really did not want this book to end!
This is an amazing book and the narration is outstanding. I didn't want it to end! You absolutely feel like you really know the characters. Definitely you want to listen to this book!
This book was fantastic, the narrators were some of the best I have heard. I was sad to have it end and would recommend it to anyone. Great story line, great character development and great narration!!!
This audiobook is one of the best I've heard in a very long time. Kathryn Stockett has defined the many characters in the book very well, so its fairly easy to keep up with them, plus the narratives are first rate! The story line is about the lives of Negro maids working for white families in the 50's and early 60's. It has all the elements I look for... It's serious, sad sometimes, and yet has realistic comical moments. I loved listening to it and most likely will listen to it again and again.
This was a terrific story with wonderful readers. With 3 readers, it was more like a play. Absolutely wonderful!!
This is an amazing book. The story itself, the structure and the subject matter are exceptional, but the narration will blow you away. I usually prefer reading but this is one thast I can't recommend the audio book enough.
I don't usually review either but had to do it on this one.
I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise. A beautiful story that danced with excellent narration. Touching the same place in my heart as the Secret Life of Bees.
I have not yet finished this book. I came back here because I wanted to know more about the author. The narration and the book itself is totally absorbing. I can't stop listening so I've been carrying my iPhone around with headphones. Ranks up there with Secret Life of Bees. Expert narration, I think, makes all the difference, even to an excellent book. This is expert and excellent. A must "read"!
