I think I enjoyed this book more on audio because of the skill of the narrarators. The book is excellently written, but I could not have provided the voices like the audio book.
I can't recall ever listening to a better book. The narration was amazing. I felt like I knew the characters and could even imagine them in their daily lives. I wish I had the money to make this into a movie. One of the best books ever and I recommended it to a friend who also loved it. I was sad when this one ended because I wanted the story to just keep on going.
This is one of the rare books that you listen to and you are truly sad when it ends. The writing is sharp, painful, funny - and the narration brings Stockett's wonderfully developed characters into your car, home, or where ever you choose to listen to this great work.
This is a wonderful book. Well written and read. It gives you a glimpse into another time and another world. Knowing that things have changed from the time in this book to now gives me hope for the future.
I laughed, cried and was drawn in my Stockett's simple, but vivid descriptions. She has woven a complex thread through a volatile and moving time in our history. What a GREAT read.
The best audio presentation I have heard to date!I truly wished there would have been parts 4, 5, and 6, and 7 ... I loved it!!!
The story and the writing are wonderful. The reading is masterfully done. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
I lived through part of this time in Georgia and while I found so much of it dead on, I found myself realizing how little I actually knew about what was going on. Very insightful and the characters are all wonderful. Bravo!
This might be the best book I have downloaded this year. Great story, adn the characters were so wonderful. Lovable, and smart. there are so many different voices int his book it is really fun to listen to. The author and the narrator do a great job bringing the dialec to life.
It was a FABULOUS book. I was a crying mess at the end, and wanted to go inside the book and hugs them all (well, not Hilly, really). Being from Europe, I knew very little about the subject of the book, and I was mesmerized. I can't find any better word. The narration for this audiobook was so perfect, I felt like I was sitting at that kitchen table with Aibileen, Skeeter and Minny, listening to them as they were telling me that fantastic, moving story.
You would be a fool NOT to read this book. I give it 1000 stars, and I can't wait to read it again a few months (maybe in paperback).
