This was a no-nonsense approach to playing winning poker. Phil dove right into what goes on in his head when sitting down at the poker table. He tells you how to handle different types of opponents, simplifies the math, and goes over the various situations that arise in almost every game.
Keep a pen and pad handy because you will want to take notes. This is one of the better poker books out there.
Easy to comprehend and great lessons on the game. I had the book before purchasing the audio version to listen to on my commute. I will listen and re-listen to this book no doubt.
Outside of Doyle Brunson's "Super System", this is my favorite poker book. By far the best poker book on Audible as of 12/2013.
This is the perfect book for the dead money player to improve to a winning player. Succinct, easy to listen to, and gives a great foundation for stratagy and disipline . Doesn't drone on like other books. Has turned me into a cash game winner. Phil Gordon is also a great narrator. Ya think it might be worth the price of an ante?
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. —Wayne Gretzky
This book is mainly about no limit holdem tournaments because that's the authors main experience come from. He doesn't seem to be holding anything back. Excellent book for beginners and advanced players.
I haven't read the book but there is a lot of content in here and you'll probably need to listen a couple of times before you can soak in everything he has to offer.
I found the book to be very helpful and surprisingly interesting, I say that because I'm not a big fan of Phil Gordons. The book was very informative, had a great pace. I recommend it.
