"Sense and Sensibilty"
A wonderful Austen novel outstandingly narrated by Juliet Stevenson. Her portrayal of the many characters is perfect.
A classic Jane Austen with all the wit, humour and intelligence you would expect from her, made even more enjoyable by Juliet Stevenson's entertaining and excellent narration. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book once again.
"Lovely story read beautifully"
I am a real Austen fan, this book in my opinion is read beautifully, as a Brit I find readers who pronounce UK place names wrongly to be very irritating, none of this here. I know the story so well but listening to it again is always a great pleasure
This is another masterpiece from Jane Austen, with wonderful depths to the stories of her characters. Although it's somewhat mournful throughout, it's definitely a must-read.
Juliet Stevenson did a fabulous job as always, such quality to her reading. But I have to say that after listening to the whole, rather negative story for much of the time, I just had to watch the Emma Thompson/Kate Winslet etc film, whose performances were just stunning.
"The best narrator"
The story is undoubtedly lovely, moreover, Juliet Stevenson's performance is just superb!
I tried several different narrator for "Sense and sensibility" and she is the best.
She created the tone, speed and characteristics for each character so that I could almost see each faces.
"a piece of art!!!!great narrator!!!"
This is a book for those who want to learn english and hear to a remarkable english accent of juliet Stevenson.
"Transported away into another time"
Juliet Stevenson's reading of this classic allows you to be transported away to another time & revel in the sheer delight of her voice, intonation & diction which takes Ms Austen's classic to a new level of enjoyment. Though familiar with the book, I thought I would listen to it again in favour of re-reading the book prior to the next book club - sheer joy A must download for every Audible library!
"Always take the time to read the book"
I have an admission to make, I had only ever seen the movie/tv drama of this and had never read the book. I don't usually make a habit of doing that.
I thoroughly enjoyed this reading and loved just how much more detail there was and also the descriptions of the characters was brilliant.
Great reading by Juliet Stevenson, very enjoyable listen.
"Classic story. Uneven performance."
The performer couldn't decide on Marianne's voice for a while - in the early stages, giving her the same screechy voice that one might expect to belong to Mrs John Dashwood or Ann Steele. It did settle after a while - I think it was after the departure of Willoughby for London.
Sisters before Misters
This book will always be one of my 'comfort listens'. Forget the men. It's all about the women in this book, and how they support and care for one another. Two sets of sisters - the Dashwoods and the Steeles - are opposed to one another, and each set has their own circle of supporters, with dear Mrs Jennings loving and caring for every all four sisters equally.
"First chapter good"
First chapter was good but that's all I could listen to, the rest will not play
