Yeah - if that friend had listened to any of the Series of Unfortunate Events books I would tell them to download this little interview. Made me crack up!!
I love that he does these interviews
It's free, so download and laugh along!
My preference for a good story is something totally unusual and not run of the mill stuff. Give me something I haven't heard before.
I learned a number of things from listening to this interview. It's nice to know that writers have second thoughts about what they write. But it's nice to know that he wasn't scared to put his imagination on the page either.
I'm a mom. I have drama in my life. I don't want books with the F-bomb, nor graphic violence. I read for fun and to bring my family together. I read for reducing stress levels. We have never had a television in our home and our children are now mid twenties to 19. We listen together and look for belly-wrenching laughter. So what is it like to live without a TV? Awesomely educational and inspirational. Each new book is a marvel.
I haven't been able to get into these books. I got the interview to see if that would help. I have a child that likes the books, but I think they are strange. The interview didn't help change my mind. I guess my warped sense of humor doesn't understand this warped sense of humor.
I do like author interviews, most of the time. I think there are some great tidbits in this, so I am giving it 4 stars.
Beth Anderson is a skilled interviewer. What's more, Daniel Handler is a skilled responder. His wit and humility completely charmed me. The audio quality could be better, but it's at least as good as A.M. radio and it wasn't something that really interrupted my enjoyment of the interview. I highly recommend this free soundbyte.
