Its kind of funny in some spots. Pretty predictable mostly. And I'm still trying to figure out what the publisher meant in the synopsis by "the strangest dog you'll ever encounter..." because there was nothing remotely remarkable about her dog let alone earning the title of "strangest." Mostly though, my biggest gripe about this book is after a while I just got sick and tired of this woman's complaining. I just have very very little tolerance or sympathy for a person who feels the need to lay blame on someone else for all their problems, can only see the negative, and never shows an ounce of gratitude for all the loving people offering support - especially when she's such a miserable person and dosn't deserve it! Oh, except until the very end when she suddenly has some epiphany and becomes an entirely different person in the blink of an eye. Yeah right.
I enjoyed it from start to finish. The gal that reads the book has a wonderfully pleasant and creative voice. Excellent, fun book. Big folks everywhere will embrace this hero!
You have to finish this book or you'll miss life changing experiences. I read this book in 2 sittings which is a record for me. Usually a book sits for weeks before I finish it. A great read for anyone who has every been or known someone with a weight or image problem. Have fun!!
The story was ok even if a little hoaky - but just didn't go along with the title or what I felt the book would be about (yes, I was expecting something much more with a title like this). Not very plausible either - the whole story. Sorry.
Not only was this book amazing, but I couldn't stop listening to it. it had great twists, good story line, and the person reading read beautifully.
This book was very much not my cup of tea. It's a self-indulgent tale of a fat woman who dumps a guy and then spends the majority of the book tearfully (and pathetically) trying to get the guy back. I found myself just cringing with embarrassment for women everywhere as I listened. At least it has a happy ending.
I expected a light, cute, and perhaps slightly comedic story from the sample and the blurb, I was not disappointed. Good in Bed was all of those things at one point or another. What I had not expected were the passages of depth, heartbreak, and moments that could only be described as poignant.
Best of all, it lacked the "WWWAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! All this bad stuff happens to me because I'm fat" shtick.
Be warned, if you buy it for a long drive thinking light snarky beach trash.... you may find yourself parked outside of a hotel unwilling to turn it off and being stared down by the valet...I did.
They story was very depressing.
I was very disappointed.
For the first time ever, I was completely mislead by the reviews of this book. It seemed that most people liked this book. I found it very depressing and would not recommend it to anyone! The narration, however, was very good!
I was looking for a light chic-flick type book to read and this one just had a very dark undertone with the main character almost loosing her baby and depression, etc.
No. But I won't be reading anything else from this author.
No. THe voice was fine. No complaints.
None. I just wasn't looking for such a serious story.
