In my humble opinion, this was the best Alex Cross book I've read yet. Honestly, the subject matter made me a bit paranoid for a while. I started watching other people as I walked in a parking garage or other secluded type areas. This story really got into my head.
I think the Alex Cross character keeps getting deeper, and I love that. The story is fast paced and downright nerve-racking. I never wanted to shut it off. I found myself driving out of my way on my way home from work so I could finish the book that evening.
I wouldn't say the ending was "lacking". I'd characterize it as one hell of a cliff-hanger. Did it make me angry? Oh yes it did, but you can believe I'll be one of the first in line for the next installment.
Overall, it is a must read. One of the best thrillers of the year, in my opinion. GET THIS BOOK!
Patterson's Alex Cross series has not lost its bite. It remains fresh and entertaining. The Audible.com production includes somewhat annoying and distracting background music, sometimes unsuitable to the content.
This was an entertaining book, but the music and audio are truly annoying. With any luck the producers will leave the silly "chapter" sounds out of the next production.
Although the book was good there are times throughout the read that is accompanied by background music. It offered nada to the read, in fact at times it drove me to turn it off. It's OK to hear background music in obvious situations but lets keep it terse. Pictures of the happenings are developed by our own minds and I don't need music to help me accomplish that.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was my first time "reading" a Patterson novel and I loved. What a great substitute for music at the gym!
This book presents an entertaining trail to catch a madman. But the villains sound like something out of an early Batman TV show. Unbelievably, these sociopaths gather around with irritating nicknames and plot to overthrow the world--well not quite. We truly enjoyed the Alex Cross parts, but the remainder did not make me afraid, it made me laugh. After all this, the ending was lacking and felt like a copout.
another great Cross mystery. Can't wait for the next one. Patterson as always mixes high suspense, romance and family in a win-win plot.
I have enjoyed other Alex Cross books but this one was a let down. There wasn't much suspense, the plot about the Wolf didn't make much sense and the ending was terrible. It didn't wrap up loose ends at the end. I am returning this book.
