This was the best performed audible book I've listened to. I didn't want it to end.
The Olive Farm was well performed also but I'd rate Rush Home Road over it.
No, but I would like to.
It's my fault for not reading more carefully, but this fine writing deserves a full, unabridged edition. I never opt for abridged versions...it feels like I'm cheating.
Ruby Dee is one of my favorite artists. As usual, her chareacters seem to come to life. Only one flaw, she sometimes sounds too breathless and it is distracting, I'm questioning exactly when this nove was written because years ago, I remember a movie that portrayed that incident on the train with the ring. Nevertheless, it is a story worth enjoying.
Audible Obsessed Commuter.
The story was okay, but the narration was AWFUL! It seemed.... like a str..ange... breathing pattern..... that made....it as painful....listen (sorry Ruby Dee, just didn't strike my fancy and was distracting as could be!). Plot was about a women who takes care of a girl left on her doorstep - bringing back memories of her earlier years. Could have been an okay plot except she started throwing in communicating spirits and the longest string of bad luck. Save your credit.
wonderful, could hear her again and again.
Addy being young and then old
hope for a sequel of child growing up
Would not recommend Maybe I was swayed by the 2 depressing books I had just listened to, but I could not hear more than the first couple of chapters. Just did not want to go where it was taking me.
Many mentioned they loved the reading, but I did not feel that same way.
I like Ruby Dee and feel she does a wonderful job with conveying voices and emotions.
The content for the characters was a bit bewildering sometimes. it chops and changes it need to be listened with good attention. Missing the vitals could lose it for you, Light in the content and as i said a good allrounder that could be listened to by a mature ear.
i enjoyed it and considering the story line she did what she did for that reason, i just got a bit tired of the changing of the line.
i felt authenticity as she was suited for the read i thought anyways.
I think this story line has been done other times in different ways. i suppose anyone could play it.
The ending was a bit out of the norm, you found yourself self explaining what your interpretations were of the end.
Ruby Dee's voice was perfect for this book. I thought the ending was a little phony but overall I liked the book.
Addie's conversations with her brother Liam
Addie Shad as an older woman. That voice..................
How it switched from past to present
Easy to listen to voice, with changes for characters
