I knew about snowballing debt but I didn't know where to tie in the savings, house, and retirement. I am working on selling this to my wife and listening to the book again. I am currently working on these steps from this book. I enjoyed the biblical references.
This book is the best!! It has changed our life. Fortunately, we started before we experienced our first "down-sizing" event in our life. Thanks to Dave and this book, it wasn't near as stressful as it could have been. We were finacially secure because of this plan.
Thank you Dave!!
If you have debt...this book is for you. It will change everything for you. If you follow the plan (which doesn't require you spending more money to get some kind of kit) you will get out of debt. You wont like what you have to do (control yourself), but it will work!
The information in this book and Rich Dad, Poor Dad should be mandatory in all schools after memorization of the multiplication tables. The audio version of this book is not as easy to listen too as Rich Dad, Poor Dad, but you warm up to the author if you give him a chance.
When I listened to this book, I was ill and in bed and needed something to do. The first half hour was difficult to listen to because it took me a while to warm up to the author. By the end of the first hour I was ready to yell JUST TELL ME THE SECRET! It then dawned on me that he was intentionally putting me on a path to understand what he wanted to say. I'm glad I waited him out. Listen patiently, because it's worth every second afterwards.
The advice can be put into 3 sentences but I'm not going to do that because you'd look at it and say that's obvious, why should I read this book? The advice IS obvious yet you are reading this review... Are you deep in debt? If so, it's probably because you were taught that a credit card builds your credit, debt consolidation is a good idea, and you need to take on debt to make it in this world!
This book will not help you if you can't follow its advice and change the way you think about money and debt. Those who hit bottom or have failed a few times at business will find the advice in this book easier to follow.
Suck it up and do what this book tells you. You'll be glad you did.
I read this book 6 monthes ago and although I don't agree with some of the things he says alot of it makes sense. I think about this book often and alot of the things that he said stuck in my head. Great listen.
Dave Ramsey offers simple steps to become debt free. A very easy listen, and one worth listening to more than once. I recently completed another audio cassette, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", by Robert Kiyosaki, which is the anti-thesis of this book. Robert encourages the use of debt to grow wealth, while Dave discourages. The truth is that different personality types require different strategies. I tend to be the more aggressive investor, but I found Dave Ramsey's lessons important, to remind me to stay firmly grounded, and prepared for all financial eventualities.
very simple and easy to follow if your willing to make the change.
I highly reccomend this audiobook for those people wanting to make a change.
