I only listened to the audio
The implementation of budgets
He's humorous and "real"
Dave doesn't write to inspire as much as instruct so its not the type of book that will generally make you that emotional, but it will reach deep inside if it reveals parts of you.
Dave Ramsey- Keep up the good work!
If you want a technical book with advanced and complex strategies, this is the wrong audiobook. This was created by Dave Ramsey, and it's narrated by him. So expect the same kind of strategies, anecdotes, comparisons, sarcasms, energetic voice, and Bible quotes he uses in person. You will also hear his myths debunking, and baby steps strategy to get out of debt.
So enjoy this intense financial trip (and watch out for those volume peaks).
Yes, if/when I get into a better financial situation. The book presupposes you have enough money to save some each month and there is a surplus. In my situation though, I'm not sure if it's all relevant.
I would have elaborated on how to make ends meet and start saving when you have a small budget to begin with.
I did not like how he was a little sarcastic or gave voice to silly ideas, it would have been better if he had simply explained their error.
I did find the fact that he gave a lot of examples of false ideas we have and explained their error. I just wish he would have used a normal voice throughout the book!
It was helpful in the beginning, and I am likely to take some of these ideas to heart.
I would listen to this again. He give's good advice and a lot of it. You'll need to refresh your memory from time to time.
The advice was sound and easy to accomplish.
I liked his straight forwardness
I will change my spending habit and become more accountable.
I've already started working on some of his suggestions. If you're not serious about changing your financial standings don't bother with this book. Save your money, or should I say go spend your money!
This is the best money advice book no matter what your income level or future plans
First book I have listened to by Dave Ramsey , plan on getting the financial peace package .
He is very funny and a bit sarcastic , it is refreshing because he tells it like it is . If you want to be coddled this book is not for you .
Yes - the passion of Dave comes through different when he reads the book.
Started a new plan for our financial freedom, as a family.
This one is a must have if you have an interest in personal finance...
As far as a no nonsense, how-to, book The Total Money Makeover is one of the best I've come across. Dave speaks to you the way you would want a coach to. I'm the farthest thing away from an athlete but when you have a coach that will push you to follow-through and stick through the tough parts; Dave is the kind of man you want by your side.
This is my first encounter with Dave Ramsey but since listening to this book I subscribed to his podcast.
The way he said to list the debts, pay smallest to largest, and the emergency $1000 fund.
I'm a huge fan of the Rich Dad/Poor Dad books. If Dave could kick Robert's behind into making a more step-by-step way of getting financial literacy, the way he lays out the financial makeover across the nation, I think the banks would shutter and the country would stop being in such a panicked state when it comes to money.
Very good! Very practical and a takeaway that you can begin to use right away.
My eyes don't allow me to read much, so audio books are great!
Explanation of the 7 baby steps
Knowledgeable, and sure of himself, not a salesman.
We are using the entire plan in our life, at this moment, whole family is on board and Gazelle intense.
If you find him to sound "angry", well people should be angry, this should have been taught in at least high school if not in grade school. If you find him to sound "condescending" then you are probably guilty of the subject matter he discussing and possibly it is your guilt and not his condescension you are perceiving. This man has freely given this knowledge, except the cost of the book, does not ask for, sell, or promote and goods or services that would directly benefit him. If you have money problems, yes, listen to this book. Our family, marriage, and financial future have been saved by listening to this book. God Bless Dave Ramsey!!
The author shares his personal experience to illustrate the lessons he's learned the hard way about financial success.
I found the delivery to be rather patronizing which I found irritating but overall the message and advice offered is solid.
