Biblical principles stand strong and everyday language helps you UNDERSTAND them so you can APPLY them. Great read. Will "read" often.
The intros are informative and not overwhelmingly long. The narrator has a lovely voice and reads with emotion. The translation is easy to understand.
Amy Life long avid reader, especially of poetry, literary and popular fiction, historical fiction, mystery/suspense, and some non-fiction.
This is a modern language poetic New Testament which offers an insightful, interpretive approach to biblical understanding. It is true to the "message" (the heart) of the Bible rather than precise literal word interpretation. I bought it precisely so that I could read it over and over.
Read anything by Eugene Peterson. He has a pastor's heart, a prayerful world view, and is an excellent writer!
I was not particularly impressed by the narrators or the music, but I did not buy this book in order to be entertained but to be immersed in the message.
It will change your life.
I don't believe I would.
Strayed to for from the versions I am used to listening to. In my opinion strayed so far sometimes I felt lost.
There performance did not compare to other Bibles I have listened to
None that I can think off with the exception it is the word of God.
Honestly, I was leary of getting a contemporary version of the Bible, but when my pastor recommended The Message I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Eugene Peterson does a great job of interpertating the Bible in a modern vernacular eith out "jazzin' up scripture" which was what I was worried about.
Its too bad the entire Message Bible isn't available on audible.
This was actually told like a story and each section was summarized so that we were told what was going on in that time. I loved it
Enjoy Reading the Bible
