Historia
Two years ago, a hostile Prime Minister launched the Monochrome inquiry, investigating "historical over-reaching" by the British Secret Service “to investigate historical over-reaching.” Monochrome’s mission was to ferret out any hint of misconduct by any MI5 officer—and allowed Griselda Fleet and Malcolm Kyle, the two civil servants seconded to the project, unfettered access to any and all confidential information in the Service archives in order to do so. But MI5’s formidable First Desk did not become Britain’s top spy by accident, and she has successfully thwarted the inquiry at every turn.

An early morning spy swap, not at the familiar setting for such exchanges, nor at Checkpoint Charlie, where international visitors cross into the East, but at a more discreet border crossing, usually reserved for East German VIPs. The Communists are trading two American students caught helping people to escape over the wall and an aging MI6 operative. On the other side of the trade: Martin Keller, a physicist who once made headlines, but who then disappeared into the English prison system.

Paris in 1895: Alfred Dreyfus, a young Jewish officer, has just been convicted of treason, sentenced to life imprisonment at Devil's Island, and stripped of his rank in front of a baying crowd of 20,000. Among the witnesses to his humiliation is Georges Picquart, the ambitious, intellectual, recently promoted head of the counterespionage agency that Dreyfus had passed secrets to the Germans. At first, Picquart firmly believes in Dreyfus' guilt. But it is not long after Dreyfus is delivered to his desolate prison that Picquart stumbles on information that leads him to suspect that there is still a spy at large in the French military.

Historia
Northern Ireland, spring 1981. Hunger strikes, riots, power cuts, a homophobic serial killer with a penchant for opera, and a young woman’s suicide that may yet turn out to be murder: on the surface, the events are unconnected, but then things—and people—aren’t always what they seem. Detective Sergeant Duffy is the man tasked with trying to get to the bottom of it all. It’s no easy job—especially when it turns out that one of the victims was involved in the IRA but was last seen discussing business with someone from the loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force.

Resumen del Editor
February, 1944. A bitter winter grips occupied France, where Marc Reece leads a circuit of British agents risking their lives in order to sabotage the German war effort from within. But Reece has a second mission, secret even from his fellow agents - including Charlotte, the woman with whom he has ill-advisedly fallen in love. He must secure a document identifying a German spy at the heart of British intelligence. The fate of the Allied forces on D-Day is in his hands.
But when his circuit is ambushed - with fatal consequences - Reece realises there may be a traitor in its ranks, putting everything they've been fighting for at risk. Then Charlotte goes missing. Is she in danger, or has Reece been betrayed by the only person he thought he could trust? And with the clock ticking towards D-Day, can he find the truth before it's too late?
A gripping and atmospheric thriller inspired by true events, this is the story of a deadly game of espionage, destined to change the course of the most crucial battle in the Second World War.

In David Ignatius' gripping new novel, spies don' t bother to steal information...they change it, permanently and invisibly. Graham Weber has been director of the CIA for less than a week when a Swiss kid in a dirty T-shirt walks into the American consulate in Hamburg and says the agency has been hacked, and he has a list of agents' names to prove it. Historia
This is the moment a CIA director most dreads. Weber isn' t sure where to turn until he meets a charismatic (and unstable) young man named James Morris who runs the Internet Operations Center.

Historia
It is 1913, and those who follow the news closely can see the world is teetering on the brink of war. Jack McColl, a Scottish car salesman with an uncanny ear for languages, has always hoped to make a job for himself as a spy. As his sales calls take him from city to great city - Hong Kong to Shanghai to San Francisco to New York - he moonlights collecting intelligence for His Majesty's Navy, but British espionage is in its infancy and Jack has nothing but a shoestring budget and the very tenuous protection of a boss in faraway London.

Historia
Berlin, 1948. Almost four years after the war's end, the city is still in ruins, a physical wasteland and a political symbol about to rupture. In the West a defiant, blockaded city is barely surviving on airlifted supplies; in the East the heady early days of political reconstruction are being undermined by the murky compromises of the Cold War. Espionage, like the black market, is a fact of life.

D-Day marked the start of the Battle for Normandy, which in turn led to the liberation of Nazi-occupied Europe and the defeat of Germany. Although it is seen as an unqualified success, the Battle for Normandy was a much more closely fought affair. It wasn’t until the 1970s that details of the Allies' top-secret and audacious deception plan emerged.

Berlin, 1963.

Great WWII Listen!
Nothing bad to say about this one and Jonathon Keeble always impresses.
I kept thinking I was listening to a Indiana Jones war movie (would probably be a great continuation of the series!)
I would recommended it

On the edge of.my seat!
We need more historical fiction by this author. I have read about 200 books on World War II and this is the best novel by far exciting, realistic, accurate facts, and superb writing. And, of course, fantastic narration.

An Interesting Listen
This book as bits and pieces of truth interwoven into the plot to make it interesting. A real WW2 spy thriller with numerous twists and turns, spy’s, counter spy’s and traitors. Narration keeps the book moving along and is well done. If you like a good WW 2 spy thriller, this book will not disappoint.

Based on facts
Well written without hyperboles or overly dramatic descriptions, which enhanced it believability. The amazing thing is the last chapter that outlines the facts and characters upon which the story is based. Rubin uses actual names of some of the German actors. Amazing story. Truth IS stranger than fiction. Or, at least often more interesting.

Fantastic
This was a really great book. I love this genre, WWII and espionage; both fiction or nonfiction; And this historical fiction was well put together. Pacing was great every chapter moved the story along quickly by two or three steps. I'm impressed this was the author's first novel? (a previous book is not available.) Outstanding work and hope to see another one come out soon.

One of best WWII books I’ve read
This is a wonderfully written and narrated book. I have read a number of books about British secret operations during WWII but this is one of the very best. There are so many twists and turns in this story that it never lacks for suspense or drama. Beautifully read. Highly recommended.
