This was such an entertaining story! I had a blast listening, laughing out load until I noticed the people at the laundromat staring at me.. if only they knew… 😉

Scorched by the Hellhound

Lucian is the fire chief and a hellhound. He can take the heat from the hot peppers. He meets Zoe who has a gumbo food truck. She uses her grandmother's recipes. When she hears of a fire she takes her truck as close as she can get to the fire. There the firemen start coming over to try the gumbo thinking they can handle the heat. When they can't one decides maybe the boss could. Lucian is shocked with how he feels when he sees Zoe. Zoe is impressed with him too.
She's entered in a competition. When she goes on the day to set up she meets up with her ex, the one who stole her grandmother's recipe and won a scholarship to a French chef school. Lucien had told her he'd go to the competition. As she set up and got her gumbo going she goes to check for Lucien. Then she heads back to her spot. That was just enough time that her ex could do something to her recipe. She is mortified. She and Lucien are starting to become an item. But she is a bit scared because of her track record with her ex. They spend a night together and the next day as he leaves he catches the scent of an imp who has it in for him. Then her apartment house is on fire. Will Lucien be able to save her?
Azalea Blau is an amazing narrator.

Sweet, fun, and passionate!

This is the first book in A Monster Mates Romance series. Lucian and Zoe's story is sweet, fun, fast-paced, and passionate. Zoe, a food truck chef, is smart, and determined. Lucian, a hellhound fire chief, is handsome, protective, and supportive. I liked the instant attraction, and the sizzling chemistry. The story is filled with twists and turns. The world building is original and interesting. Azalea Blau did a good job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to more in the series. Fun, lighthearted and charming

This book was so cute! It was fun, lighthearted and charming. I loved the story and although it was short there was plenty of backstory provided. The characters were sweet, but there was definitely a good amount of spice too!.

Spicey in more ways than one. The story is good and keeps you interested. Who wouldn't enjoy a love story that includes Humans, Hellhounds and Food trucks.

Hellhound Fireman Will Take You Straight To Heaven

Gleeful Goblin Review: I adored the book version of this story so when I saw an audiobook version came available I lost my ever loving mind. I'm mildly obsessed with cooking shows (for reasons unknown even to me since I hate cooking) and I was enthralled by the show Food Truck Roundup so this book combining those elements with monsterfudger love AND FIREMEN? Gimme! I knew I was for sure sunk at this scene when the MCs meet while FMC is serving folks after a fire call.

"I gulped yet again, unaware that my dish was being judged by the hellhound equivalent of Gordon Ramsay. Lucian’s eyes burned into mine as he replied, “I’ll compliment food that deserves it. So, Miss… Gumbo?” “Z-Zoe. I’m just Zoe. Miss Gumbo is my grandmother.” “Zoe,” he repeated, his voice practically caressing my name. “You made this from scratch?” I nodded, my heart pounding from the undivided attention he was giving me. I had never felt so seen, and it was both thrilling and terrifying. Lucian lifted the bowl up to his nose and breathed it in. “Let’s see… Chicken, andouille sausage, celery, onion, green pepper, tomatoes, okra, garlic, cumin, and a unique Creole spice blend that must’ve been passed down through many generations.” I felt like he had read me like a book. Or at least read my recipe like one. “Yup.” “And, of course,” Lucian added, setting the bowl back down on the counter, “there is the Carolina Reaper pepper, which to an untrained palette might be a bit overwhelming. But to me, it adds a bit of a kick that I really appreciate.” “Th-thanks,” I said, brushing a stray lock of hair out of my eyes. He paused and sniffed the air gently, before frowning. “Wait… There’s something else.” I wasn’t sure what else it could be. He had named off every ingredient there was. Then he leaned closer to the counter, his voice lowering as he took another breath. “Oh,” he said with a curious còck to his head and an amused glint in his eyes. He then said, just low enough for only me to hear, “It’s you.” “Me?” I whispered." SWOON. I had to put the book DOWN and fan myself y'all. It is unfair to be this swoon worthy this early in a book. And from the small hints about the rest of the squad it seems like there might be more spicy boys in the future and if so YES PLEASE. If nothing else, I need Annabelle to have her spicy, happy ever after.

The steamy scenes are enough to fill several saunas AND Lucian is a Consent King which....sploosh. I connect with Zoe being a socially awkward introvert who is adopted by an extrovert (Annabelle) and is down to be swept off your feet respectfully. And when he does this move? I'm dead and typing this from the grave: "The shuddering wave of ecstasy rolled out through my body, making my entire frame shake and twitch as he continued licking my clenching püssy, drawing out the pleasure until every ounce was squeezed from me and I had nothing left. “There we go,” he whispered softly. “That’s a good girl.” So if all this sounds like you jam as it was mine, GRAB UP THIS AUDIOBOOK. 5/5 Stars.

Lucian and Zoe

Story: Zoe (h), a food truck chef looking to make it in New Orleans with her gumbo truck, parks her truck in front of a group of hungry firefighters and shew draws the heated attention of Lucian (H), a hellhound fire chief. His firefighter crew is mainly comprised of monsters, and while he's attracted to Zoe, Lucien strives to keep his hellhound beast in check and not scare her off. As their connection heats up, Zoe finds herself entangled in a web of spicy situations, and Lucien is right there alongside her to help deal with her conniving ex, her struggling food truck, cooking contests, a fiery enemy, and more. Zoe and Lucian navigate the challenges of their unusual romance, blending sweet moments with steamy encounters. Love Lucien’s rationale for firefighting and the idea that the underworld is a place, not necessarily defining one as good or bad. Hot and spicy monster-human romance with a mix of danger, peppery cooking, and a supportive grandmother.

Audio: Narrator Azalea Blau does a great job with Zoe and female voices, and a good job with Lucian and other male voices. I personally prefer duet style narration where a female narrator is used to voice female voices, and a male narrator for male voices - in romance where the male is an alpha male personality, I find that trying to have a female narrator just doesn't have the deepness/strength that I'm expecting, and they instead come out as low/husky. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.
