Resumen del Editor

Darcy Pistolis never met a dare she could turn down, and her antics are usually the talk of the town. The younger sister of Violet Pistolis, who tragically died at just 20 years old, doesn’t see herself slowing down anytime soon—especially if it means letting the memory of her sister slip from her grasp.

When the lights go out during a kissing game at a summer party, Darcy experiences the kiss of a lifetime—one that offers an adrenaline rush like she’s never known before. Determined to find the mystery kisser, she devises the Kiss Contest. If she’s lucky, the mystery guy will show up and knock her socks off again. But unexpected feelings for her best friend complicate Darcy’s plan, proving there’s much more to life than living on the edge.

Can Darcy figure out what she wants before she loses everything, or will losing everything help her find out who she really is?

Touching Story

I found this second book in the "I'm Pretty Sure About That Series" touching, but also sad. Darcy Pistolis was a daredevil, who never refused a dare. Darcy was living under the shadow of her sister's death. Both themes dominated most of this story, and they were themes that I found could be a little disheartening. Michelle Araya's narration was passable. Her oration and pronunciation were fine, but her tone was wooden and lacked expressiveness. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Sweet friends to lovers

This is a sweet story that deals with some heavy issues but in a light way. I really like the cast of characters and this is a stand alone though I did enjoy the loose tie to the first one. I enjoy how the author builds these groups of friends and the story encompasses the whole set of relationships. The whole premise and growth of the MC was done is a great way and the narration was good.

Sometimes the Frog Prince Isn't Far Away

Parents- PG13 clean enough for Middle Grade on up
Language- not a lot that I remember and no f-bombs
Violence- nothing to warn of
Sexual Content- PG-PG13- really very clean, no bedroom romping, there's a lot of kissing and attraction but nothing heavy

This was a really sweet and a bit sad at times read. The story revolves around a girl named Darcy who's struggling to deal with the death of her sister and finds herself blown away by a mystery boy's kiss while the electricity was out at a party. She goes on a kissing spree to try to find the boy with the electric kiss. She's a bit of a wild child (20yr old) with a bit of an adrenaline junky problem... She's willing to kiss a lot of frogs to find the guy. There's love triangles, drama, real emotion, learning how to deal with life and leaning on friends and family to get through it all. Definitely recommend this to those looking for a clean romance with heart, comedy and something a bit deeper... It may have been a little predictable, but let's be honest, most of this genre is and we all still love them.

Narrator (4⭐) has pretty good differentiations and was fun/easy to listen to. I felt the normal speaking rate was at 1.25x speed but I do like to listen faster then most (I listened to this one 1.65x speed).

Charming!

Darcy Pistolis is an adrenaline junkie who is unable to resist a dare. She's following in her sister's footsteps, the sister she idolized but died in a tragic accident. Darcy has been out of control with her dangerous behavior and her family and friends are at a loss for what to do. Foster Mitchell, Darcy's best friend and next door neighbor since they were seven, is home for the summer and it's going to be phenomenal. It's obvious to everybody that they're in love with each other, but Darcy is quick to deny that there's anything other than friendship. She uses the old excuse that they'd lose their friendship if they became romantically involved. At a summer party, Darcy is first to play seven minutes and it's in the dark that she has the first kiss that ever sent adrenaline raging through her system. Without the lights, she has no idea who he could be, but she's drunk enough that she evidently spends the rest of the evening giving test kisses to most of the boys at the party. It would be funny, if she weren't set on finding out his identity, so she decides to have a kissing booth to raise money for charity. Foster isn't happy, but what can he do? The story isn't all sweetness and light, when jealousy and partial truths infringe on their friendship. One night when Darcy has a bad dream about her sister, Foster comforts her and they confess their feelings to each other but, in the morning, Foster says hurtful things that break Darcy's heart. The rest of the summer is awkward and it's sad to see them pull apart. Neither of them try to talk things out and Darcy leaves for school confused and, for the first time, questioning their friendship. They both had opportunities to reach out to one another, but failed to do it. Their indecision and inability to voice their feelings went on just a little too long for my taste. They definitely find a happy ending, but it wasn't smooth sailing and had some self-inflicted bumps along the way. The epilogue was short but sweet.
Michelle Araya does a wonderful job with the narration. Her well-modulated voice, with the right amount of emotion and pace, brings the characters to life.
