Resumen del Editor

How many times did you fail and gave up out of frustration or discouragement? How often does failure ruin your resolve and send you back to square one, only to fail over and over again, with little hope anything will ever change?

Written by best-selling author Martin Meadows, From Failure to Success reveals what failure really is and how to deal with it in a constructive way that will help you achieve success.

The author has suffered through multiple failures in his own life. In the book, he shares his vast experience of how he turned failure into a friend and finally achieved the success he had failed to reach for years.

Here's just a taste of what you'll learn from the book:

  • Seven types of failure and how to handle them - including failure due to self-sabotage, fear, unrealistic expectations, self-licensing, and more.
  • Five rules and exercises to develop and maintain a success-friendly mindset.
  • A five-step process to cope with failure and bounce back.
  • Three master strategies to build strength to keep going.
  • Four reasons to give up. Contrary to what many self-help authors say, sometimes it's better to give up than keep trying. Learn when and why it's better to drop your objective and dedicate your resources to another goal.
  • Ten empowering stories of people who faced insurmountable obstacles, yet turned their struggles into immense successes.

Failure is a fact of life. You can get angry at it or befriend it and use it as a tool to change your life. The choice is yours. If you'd rather take the constructive approach so you can eventually win, buy the book now, study it, and apply the teachings in your own life. You, too, can develop mental resilience and turn failures into successes!

I love how honest it is

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I love how honest this book is. The 7 rules and exercises are interesting and helpful, but I think the best part was the reasons to give up. Most people don't talk about that, so we have people who don't know how to prune what's not working. That's the key takeaway among all the others.

Martin Meadows Delivers

This books delivers. From Failure to Success is not just a retread of “we learn more from our failures than from our successes.” My pet peeve is self-improvement/motivational books that are merely descriptive rather than prescriptive. From Failure to Success avoids that pitfall and provides prescriptions in spades, including actionable items and exercises in every section. Providing them is clearly the raison d’etre for the book. Full disclosure - I received the audiobook in exchange for a fair and honest review, and I chose to go ahead and buy the Kindle edition as well. It’s a book I will keep nearby to refer to and to annotate. It starts from the position of assuming you’ve either “failed” at something or are afraid you will. Meadows provides a way of not only reframing of the concept of failure, but of success as well, prefering to focus on successful process, not the end result. Meadows describes the seven types of failures and how to handle them; provides habits of mind and real-life exercises to make you more resilient in the face of failure or fear of it; describes strategies to keep you pounding away at the process, however boring or difficult it may be; and gives you a 5-step process for coping with failure - and bouncing back. What I found truly interesting was his description of the reasons to give up, a concept usually antitehtical to authors and readers of motivational literature. Personally, I have found the never-give-up philosphy untenable, but have had difficulty articulating the difference between resignation and the deliberate decision to walk away from (or postpone) the goal for rational (not rationalized) reasons. Meadows provides some litmus tests that don’t necessarily let you let yourself off the hook, but guide you to clearly detemine whether to persist or move on. In each chapter, the author describes the concept, provides a real-life example from Meadows’s own or someone else’s life, then provides exercises for recovery from failure and for habits of resilience. The concepts and exercises apply to more than just business; they work for goals in school, family, social life, and any other area of life where you want to make improvement but have been struggling with failure. My only nit to pick with the audiobook is that I am not particularly fond of the reader and listened to it on 1.5x speed. While From Failure to Success is clearly a motivational and inspiring book, it has its feet firmly on the ground and should be in the how-to section of the bookstore.

Another worthy read from Martin Meadows

This is not a book to be read and put back on the shelf. This is a book to read and implement significant change in one's life. Packed with personal insight, practical action, and an engaging writing style, I plan on adding this to my top 150 books to read list.

The summary of key points at the end of each chapter make this book an easy reference to return to on a regular basis. I would suggest listening to the audio version and then scheduling time to work through exercises on each chapter.

Just another "home run" by Martin Meadows.

One of the best books I have EVER read!

This book helped me immensely.
I will return to it again and again.
The advice is extremely helpful. He says to imagine yourself offering comfort to your best friend, who is just like you and facing similar circumstances.
This advice instantly released me from an obsession with the loss of a close friendship AND the loss of my career goals.
I spent five years and borrowed a great deal of money getting trained in a field that supposedly had a guaranteed promise of a good job.
Three years after graduating with honors, after many attempts to find a job, I had gotten NOWHERE.
Then I was injured and had to leave the less desirable job I already had.
I experienced the overwhelming pain of failure. Of course, I have a large student loan debt.
In addition, at this time in my life, one of my closest friends became critical and said things that felt very hurtful to me. I needed to end the friendship.
I have come through this situation with a new understanding of myself and the world we live in.
I now see that I am not a failure.
I can use my education to go into business for myself, and I can surround myself with people who understand who I am and genuinely care about me.
Another takeaway is to avoid debt like the plague and bootstrap everything.
I have the ability to keep going.
This book lays it all out there in a way that makes the recovery process easy to grasp.
This author has given me so much hope in myself and my future!
I highly recommend this book!

Good book, and I enjoyed the audiobook even more

I have enjoyed Martin Meadow's books for a while now. Most of them are short books on a particular area of acheivement (dieting, exercise, etc). His last book, and this one are slightly different in that they are longer books that go a little more in depth on a topic. I enjoy audiobooks as a wheel and listen to a lot of them, but with Martin's shorter books, I felt that the kindle version was easier to digest than the audiobook (although I enjoyed both many times). With this book being longer form, I'd suggest the audiobook, as I found it to be more to my liking to listen to the book. If you prefer to read books, the kindle version is fine, but if you prefer Audio, there is no reason to forego it here. The narrator does a fine job as well. I do't enjoy self-help books where the narrator is overly animated. This narrator does not succumb to that. All in all, a great listen.

Lot More Substance Than Expected

This review is for the From Failure to Success
Everyday Habits and Exercises to Build Mental Resilience and Turn Failures into Successes

I did not expect there to be such in depth treatment of the various issues between failures and success.

All of the personal experiences were great help I found when confronting my personal deamons.

Lots of good information that you can actually use and take actions.

Excellent Everyday Advice

I received a free copy of this audio-book for an honest review. The author presented this book in what I felt was a clear and logical manner where each chapter develops concepts and information enhanced in each subsequent chapter. The points that Martin Meadows makes are illustrated through his personal experience where he takes the reader through failure and how it transitioned to success. After I listened to this book, I worked with two of my grandchildren using audio clips and sections of the book to help them grow. I have been able to relate to many of Martin's points, lessons, and advice through my own experience during a 20-year military career then an additional 20+ years working in the civilian market. As Martin points out, everyone fails it is how you take that failure psychologically, emotionally, and managing your behavior that turns your life into success. There are two things that I particularly liked. First the summarization of points at the end of each chapter - this was an exceptional teaching tool with my grandsons. Second, Martin emphasizes the need in life to take risks. This is rarely touched on by self-help authors of any kind but it does help to build the strengths of character that can help turn failure into success. After listening to the audio-book, I have purchased the kindle version in order to take more notes and implement some of the advice.
