December 1876 – Felix Spencer has inherited his family’s mercantile, but everyone knows he’s never really had much business sense. His sister is getting married and moving away but worries her brother won’t be able to run the store on his own, so she tells him that he should look for a new accountant and put an ad out. As a joke, his best friend contacts an agency for a mail order bride/accountant to come. Felix is expecting a man, but a woman shows up instead— Bethany Thomas. Bethany loves numbers and organization, but she loses her family business when her father ends up in jail for debt. Her mother pushes Bethany to get out of Richmond Society and become a mail-order bride. Does she really need to leave everything she knows behind so close to Christmastime? Can unexpected Christmas magic spark love’s flame between a man with no bride and the woman who has traveled so far to win his wary affection?
This is a clean, wholesome, standalone novella written from a Christian worldview. It has a happily ever after and features down-to-earth characters with real world problems who overcome them by grace and love.

A beautiful story with pretty good narration
Felix’s sister Hannah has raised him since he was five and he’s taking care of him but she is now getting married and although selfishly Felix wants her to stay he ultimately wishes assister nothing but the best. She tries to convince him to marry but that’s something he refuses to do but he does agree to hire an accountant. The only problem is he was expecting a man when Beth showed up. Beth doesn’t want a husband either but through working with Felix and sister Hannah she learns what a kind loving man he is as he to notices things about that he’s never noticed about the opposite sex. There is much more to the story including two adorable orphans in a stolen pie but what I most want to make clear in my review it was this is the second book I’ve listen to with virtual voice and I must say as a blind listener I am very sensitive to inflection and love a great narrator and I totally didn’t mind the virtual voice it was way better than I thought it would be. I listen to this book through Audible plus but would totally buy one with virtual voice especially with the guys voice I really enjoyed it and didn’t feel cheated at all I love P credence books and thoroughly enjoyed this one and highly recommend it. Mail order bride stories and historical fiction know that was is my guilty pleasure and I am so glad I listen to this one. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
