Resumen del Editor

The second audiobook in the new series from Hater author David Moody is perfect for listeners who like action and horror.

Set in the world of David Moody's Hater trilogy, All Roads End Here is the sequel to the "top drawer horror" (Booklist, starred review) One of Us Will Be Dead by Morning.

It’s taken Matthew Dunne almost three months to get home. Never more than a few meters from the Haters at any time, every single step has been fraught with danger. But he’s made it.

In his absence, his home city has become a sprawling, walled-off refugee camp. But the camp - and the entire world beyond its borders - is balanced on a knife-edge.

During his time in the wilderness, Matt developed a skill that is in high demand: the ability to anticipate and predict Hater behavior. It’s these skills that will thrust him into a web of subterfuge and danger. As the pressure mounts inside the camp, he finds himself under scrutiny from all sides.

He’s always done his best to avoid trouble, but sometimes it can’t be helped. The shit’s about to hit the fan, and this time, Matt’s right at the epicenter.

All Roads End Here is a fast-paced and wonderfully dark story about humanity’s fight for survival in the face of the impending apocalypse.

Is this the passivist apocalypse?

I was okay with the main character in the first book, but I just can’t stomach this one. I know the British have very limited access to firearms, but as far as I know there is no prohibition against blunt or stabbing weapons.

The constant fear driven apathy of the main character is unbelievable and exhausting. After the time it took him to get home you would think his fight instinct would have kicked in, but he only evinces a flight impulse.

He doesn’t listen, asks too many questions, and communicates little even when information would be power. I just cannot buy that this is the guy to survive and drive the story. Yes, I know he was an office worker, but even a child can wield a knife, short spear, or club. I just don’t buy that he has not learned a way to defend himself in a crisis.

I don’t know what the author wanted us to know or feel about the protagonist, but I find him stupid, exhausting, obtuse, and totally unbelievable. I won’t continue with the series. If you are into people who won’t fight back and are constantly in the grip of absolute fear this may be for you.

Decent Hater successor

Definitely a good read. Brings back some original Hater trilogy characters & shows their back story. If you liked the Hater series read this next. Plus Gerard Doyle is fantastic!
