Resumen del Editor

Ash Lancing
I've been enchanted by him ever since I first heard his laugh—before I saw his face, before we talked, before—everything. He saved me when I needed saving the most, but I'm about to ruin it all. I don't know how to keep the pieces of my world intact otherwise.

Drew Dawson
I think I've been in love with Ash since we met on that chilly night in April, almost ten years ago. I'd do anything for him. Have done everything for him. But I don't know how much longer I can tear myself apart as I wait for him. I don't know if I'll survive it.

_____________

According to Ash Lancing's fans, he has it all. He is the lead singer for a popular punk rock band, he's got a literal model for a girlfriend, a beautiful loft in NYC, and through the past ten years, he's had his best friend, Drew Dawson by his side through it all. But Ash doesn't really have it all. Because the one thing he desires, he can only have in the shadows and behind closed doors, and the exhaustive secrecy is no one's fault but his own.

Drew Dawson is nothing but supportive of his best friend; they grew from boys to men together and formed the band that has given them more than they could have dreamed of. But his best friend can't give him the one thing he needs to keep going, and that might just be his breaking point.

April Renegade is a coming of age and MM romance novel that follows the story of two young men coming to terms with their true selves over the span of a decade. In this steamy, rock 'n roll romance, tag along as two people form a relationship forged by fate.

Be ready to feel all the feelings with these two.

Rating: 4.5
1st person/dual pov
Spice: 3.5/5

Ash... the way this man had me ready to jump into my phone and snap is wild! It didn't take long for me to get mad at him either. Staying mad at him - well that's another problem. Cause I wanted to stay mad at him the entire book! And I did... sort of. When we were in the present and witnessing the complicated mess he put himself and Drew in I was livid. I understand where his head was at for some of it I truly do but what it did to Drew I just couldn't get on board with it. Drew deserves the entire world in the palm of his hand and is a freaking SAINT for dealing with Ash all these years. But especially what he was being put through in the present time. Ash never said any truer words than when he said he didn't deserve Drew.

But then a flashback chapter would come about and suddenly it's years ago right when they first met and their friendship began. You could sense their connection from that first encounter. As time went on Ash was brought into Drew's life with open arms and cared for like he was family. I loved seeing him get to experience what that life was like and to have people he could count on. As their friendship grew into something beyond just friends I cheered them on and squealed over how easily they both came to terms with these new feelings. Eager to explore this desire for each other with little hesitation had my heart racing with excitement for them and swooning over their intimate little moments where they opened up their souls to each other.

Then we snap back to real time and suddenly I'm angry at Ash all over again... I'm telling you that man is lucky he is fictional! I even almost felt bad for him towards the end as his world was about to crush him under the weight of the life he was living - almost. But then I'd get a Drew chapter and all sympathy flew out the nearest window. When things finally look like they are taking a turn for the better I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop as much as Drew was lol. But nothing made my heart break more than those songs of theirs. The ones played at their shows and the ones quietly sung in the silence had me just about wrecked. Knowing the origin of those lyrics, how no one truly knew the meaning behind them all, and the way they poked and prodded at open wounds every time they poured out into existence just strangled my heart in a vice.

As for the spice, it was good. The scenes are passionate and even a little risque at times. Ash and Drew are undeniably smoking hot together as they are older and while their younger selves were steamy as well there is a sweetness in the way they come together. Now, I usually wouldn't turn down more spice in a book like this but at the same time, there is a good possibility it would have ruined the story a little. With the situation they were in I'm glad there wasn't more. I'm not sure I could have gotten past it and what it would do to Drew before the end of the book. So if I wanted more of it anywhere it would have been in the flashback chapters. But overall I feel like the quantity of spicy scenes was as it should have been, not too much and more than a little.

I did listen to the audio for this as I followed along in the book and I'll be honest it wasn't a mind-blowing performance but it also wasn't a disaster either. The narrator is new to me so I went in with zero expectations. There were a few words that his pronunciation had me scratching my head a little and I do think there could have been more of a distinction or improvement between the way he voiced some of the characters. He absolutely pulled off the kind of attitude I was getting from Ash's character though. Towards the halfway point through the end of the book, it seemed like he got into the characters a little more and he did a good job delivering some of the heavier-hitting dialogue with feeling behind it. So while some minor improvements could have made it better I still liked it and would recommend the audio if you're preferred format is audiobooks.

So did I forgive Ash before turning the final page of their story? Somewhat. I do feel like his actions at the very end soothed some of the anger I had and his grand gesture at the very end redeemed him a little bit. The epilogue was nice and wrapped up their happy ending well. But I still want to go back and knock some sense into Ash for the majority of the book haha so that may never change. As long as Drew is happy though I'm happy. Now to go check out this book of bonus chapters and see what other feelings they might bring out of me.

Ash & Drew 🥰

This was the very first book I read this year.
I loved it so much. I loved it so much that I went running to her website to see if she sold sighed copies. She didn't. I got the courage a few weeks ago to write to her. She was so nice that she worked with me to send me a signed special edition copy of her book. She's awesome!
When I 👀 on IG that April Renegade was coming to audio, I was extremely excited. Big Audible user.
I won't lie. This isn't a perfect audiobook/ performance. This audio has a few parts that repeat, pause. A couple of errors... at some points, the narrator sounds like a robot.
Do I think the story is worth listening to, yes. Even with the errors because I already loved the book, I could look past these incidents.

This book is about a boy who hears another boy laugh and falls for him even before he sees his face.

Friends to lovers to band mates in a famous rock band.

Cheating

Ash and Drew have been together for years in secret. They're completely in love with each other. Ash had a very bad childhood and still lives with his parents' words in his head, which leads Ash to stay in the closet and hide his relationship with Drew. And by staying in the closet, he has a girlfriend/ fiance.
Sometimes, you really want to smack Ash for the way he's hurting Drew. But you also know how badly Ash is hurting, too. He knows what he's doing is wrong. That he's hurting his soulmate.
This does have a HEA, and Ash works hard to right his wrongs.

This book is definitely a 4 🌟 book!

Ash & Drew

This was my first B.G. Wolfe book, and I really enjoyed this story. It was told in duel POV going back and forth between the past and present. You really get a feel for where Ash & Drew started and came from to where they eventually end up. It was very emotional and passionate and kept me captivated. As for Adam Devens narration, it was good, not great. I liked it, didn't love it. His voice just didn't flow organically for me, came off a little robotic, but again, it was good, I liked it. All in all, I loved the story and look forward to more from B.G. Wolfe

love these rockstars

Yup even the second time around i loveeeeeeeed it just as much! Drew Dawson has my heart all over again. This round I listened on Audiobook and had a wonderful time.

Wow what a debut read! I absolutely LOVED every second of this book! I will definitely be checking out more from this author now.

So this book right off the start I will say is all around cheating so be aware if that's not for you. I on the other hand gobbled it right up. We jump from past (10 years ago) and present. To me it was done flawlessly. You get dual pov for each jump as well. It was amazing.

We meet Ash. He is from the wrong side of the tracks. He has had a rough go of life. His one true love is music. One night he goes to see Blink 182 and come in contact with a man that definitely keeps his attention. He is drawn to him so hard. Drew has a pull to Ash as well. After becoming best friends things turn and only for the better. Then things really heat up, wink wink. Their relationship is tested. Ash is afraid of coming out. They just started a band and got a label. He doesn't know what to do. So he tries to be what the public wants. What he was raised to believe was right. He doesn't want to hurt the band.

This story is deep, raw, you're just rooting for these two the entire time. They pulled hard at my heartstrings. Absolutely loved EVERYTHING about Drew and Ash and this story. Seriously this will make top 5 of 2023 for me. I AM HOOOKED!!!

Love the book, hate the narration.

I loved this book so much I had to buy the audio version. That said, the narrator is awful. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he sounds like a robot. I’m sad because I was so looking forward to this. Read it, don’t bother with the audio.
