The narrator made everything sound easy. Also, the strategies in the book were plausible and easy to achieve. Descriptions were excellent and my attention never wavered. I never knew there was so much to playing soccer, but I can see now that it is a highly technical game that requires stamina and thought processes.
I would compare this soccer book to another Ace McCloud book on golf called Golf Strategies. This book and that one both prepare the player physically and mentally to play the game.
I have read the book too, and I think Mr. Mackey brings out things you might skip over when reading. He has a good sense of what to emphasize and when to bring out the best in a book.
I found the chapter on nutrition very good. Although I do not play soccer, some of my family members do and I was able to prepare meals before the game that helped them to keep up there stamina.
This book is good for a beginner and someone who has been playing soccer for years. It touches on just about every aspect of the game from the physical and building stamina, to exercising and working the physical end, to technical issues (the part about being a goalie we found particulary helpful) and preparing mentally. The whole book is essential to the young soccer player for sure and I even learned a great deal from the book.
This book ranks in the upper 90% of all audiobooks I've listened to. It was informative and encouraging.
I particularly enjoyed the golf strategies section of the book. You can have all the technical ability in the world, but if you do not go into a game with a strategy, you are at a great disadvantage.
Mackey brings enthusiasm to the book. How to books are generally dry, but Mr. Mackey has a way of inflecting his voice to keep you interested. I might have missed some of the suggestions if I were just reading it. His voice kept me interested and listening.
I will definately remember all the golfing tips that will make the game more fun to play. I also enjoyed learning about the different equipment available and what would be the best for me.
The book is very clear with its tips and exercises to make your game better. The history of golf imparted in the book was very entertaining and interesting. I also think the part of the book that explains how to be mentally prepared for the game has many great suggestions for any player from the novice to the expert.
It is up there with the top 20
I enjoyed the explanation of techniques. They were very easy to understand and do myself. I thought a good part about this book was about mentally preparation and preparing the body. You can play well, but if you are not mentally and physically prepared, you will not perform well. This part also helped to understand other players and their traits when they are aggressive, passive or anything else.
Joshua Mackey always acts as if this is the most important book he has narrated. It is perfection and he makes you want to listen to more.
