This book should probably come with a an explicit language warning, but once you get past that, Ms Moran writes with clarity, honesty and humour. Her reading feels like having a clever, funny friend sitting on your sofa.

This is the sort of writing that gives feminism a good name.

I shall be giving a copy to my teenage daughter.

1913 - Suffragette throws herself under the King's horse. 1969 - Feminists storm Miss World. Now - Caitlin Moran rewrites "The Female Eunuch" from a bar stool and demands to know why pants are getting smaller. There's never been a better time to be a woman: we have the vote and the Pill, and we haven't been burnt as witches since 1727. However, a few nagging questions do remain...Why are we supposed to get Brazilians? Should you get Botox? Do men secretly hate us? What should you call your vagina?

For the first few minutes, I found it difficult to follow the show and almost considered stopping it. However, I kept listening and did not regret it! The comedy genius of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie shines in this very, very funny show from the late 80s. Be warned that a lot of the humor is based on British culture, history, politics, and radio. Between that fact and the fast pace of the show, it can be difficult to follow. Even though I have spent a lot of time in the UK over the past 20 years, I still probably missed 80% of the gags. Nonetheless, the 20% that I did get had me rolling on the floor.

My 12-year-old daughter asked me for a new pair of trainers. I told her she was old enough to go out and make her own," and, "Islam is no weirder than Christianity.
