I think of Steven Wright as a genius comedy writer like Woody Allen when Allen performed standup comedy. Only instead of teller longer stories, Wright is briefer and packs in a lot more punch lines. I like the way he takes a new view of common words and adds a funny new twist and way to interpret them.

After almost 25 years in the making, the most rumored comedy album is finally hitting the streets. As the elder statesman of bizarre one liners, Wright has had a decades long career creating the smartest, surrealist, oddball comedy out there, delivered in his characteristic deadpan. His first album, , was Grammy nominated when it was released in 1985 and has sold nearly a million copies. I Still Have A Pony contains the best of 20+ years of new material and has already been critically acclaimed.

  • "Mark the Shark"

    2 of 2 helpful votes

Maron has been on the cutting of the stand-up comedy world for over 25 years now, and is finally calming down just enough to make friends faster than he creates enemies. Despite the title of this recording, he is now, at last, finally selling out shows, without I should add, selling out his audience. Marc has a mind that makes improbable leaps and can run with an idea into dark corners not usually associated with comedy. If you like performers who rattle off jokes one after the other, play-act different characters, or get really funny only after you've had 5 or 6 beers, Maron may confuse and dismay you. If you like your comedy smart, honest, inventive, daring, manic, and yes, sometimes angry, you ought to check out Marc Maron.

If you haven't yet begun to suspect that the most absurd things in life may be the closest to the truth, Maron will make a staunch believer out of you. At the very least, you're liable to find you've developed an uncontrollable urge to clap your hands and shout, "Again! Again!" when this finally winds down.
