Judy's greatest hits:
  • Reckless: House of Rohan Series, Book 2

    "Magic!"

    Overall
    Performance
    Story

The "House of Rohan" series absolutely takes my breath away, leaves me with butterflies in my stomach, and consumes my time and thoughts.

The hero of this story, Adrian, is Francis and Elinor's son . Francis and Elinor's story can be found in the book Ruthless, and although Reckless can be read as a stand alone, Ruthless is a "don't miss" kind of book so be sure to read that one as well.

I love a good story where the tables turn and the seducer becomes the one who is seduced! What begins as lust turns into so much more as Adrian is brought to his knees by Charlotte. I loved the passion in this relationship! Anytime Charlotte and Adrian were in the same room, sparks flew. Whether fighting, conversing, ignoring, or succumbing.... this relationship is passionate.

The secondary romance is so touching and Adrian and Charlotte are so sizzling.

I also have to praise Susan Erickson for her wonderful narration. I love how she consistently and expertly narrates the "In Death" series by JD Robb (another "don't miss" series!), and she does an excellent job with the "House of Rohan" series as well. The combination is absolutely magical!

  • Ruthless: House of Rohan Series, Book 1

    "Loved It!"

    Story

I LOVED this book. The characters were well-developed and the dialogue was witty and often humorous. The plot was even a little bit off the usual "romance novel" path, which made it quite interesting. But what I most loved is that is showed that the the characters of a story don't have to be perfect to be thoroughly likable! Not every hero is always honorable and not every heroine is a delicate, waif-like creature in constant need of rescuing. These characters were both "flawed" in quite different ways, and those flaws made the story believable and very entertaining. The story also managed to be pretty "hot" without a lot of graphic sex scenes. Can't wait for the next installment of this series!

  • Devil in Winter

    "Great series!"

    Story

This wallflower series just keeps getting better and better! Lisa Kleypas writes a great story and successfully makes a hero out of the previous book's villain. Rosalyn Landor also does a great job with narration. Can't wait to listen to the next installment.

  • Breathless: House of Rohan Series, Book 3

    "Not Your Ordinary Love Story"

    Overall
    Performance
    Story

I read several bad reviews of this story (in other places) and I almost did not purchase this book. However, I really enjoyed the first two books in the series so I felt in my gut that this book couldn't be that far off the mark. I'm so glad I went with my instincts and purchased the book. None of the characters in this series are the run-of-the-mill "near perfect" people you ordinarily find in romance novels, which makes them all the more fascinating! While the male lead of this story was a particularly "disturbed" character, the female lead was more than a match for him! And while many objected that he did not repent enough in the end, it was obvious to me that she brought him to his knees on a much deeper level that I found extremely gratifying.

If you want mainstream romance with soap opera beautiful characters, you won't find it here. If you want characters that are realistically flawed, edgy and sometimes dangerous, visit the House of Rohan, from the beginning story if possible. I hope there is more to come in this series.

  • "Great Listen...but not for everyone!"

    16 of 16 helpful votes

I am an Austen lover and have dreamed of what happened after the wedding. While this book is not written in true Austen stlye and contains a great deal of bedroom activity. If you enjoy Eloisa James and Lisa Kleypas this book is for you! If you want a pruddish version...not so much. There are several story lines that I disagree with and think are not true to the characters (namely Bingley and Jane) but to each his own. I enjoyed it and will definitely pick it up again in the future. Please...if you are going to review this title read all the way through first.
