    This was as disjointed as a book can be. No character development, unbelievable story line that was so far out there, I couldn't stay focused on the book. ( Really, the first lady bit!) I was appalled that Michael Palmer, who has written some good medical mysteries in the past put his name on this one. Don't bother wasting your time.

    Medical mysteries are not usually my preference, however Dr. Welcome does not seem to fit into a medical mystery. He is more of a detective. I find him to be a very likable character along with Cap his AA sponsor. I enjoyed this book and I will try the next one.

    I reserve 4-Stars and 5-Stars for the "I can't put them down page turners" This is not in that category, but I did find it an interesting premise.

    As far as mysteries go, I prefer the police procedures, detective, and lawyer type of books. It is just my taste.

    So with that in mind, this novel had an interesting premise and likable heroes.

    I love Patricia Cornwell's books. I buy books by my favorite authors and not by the reviews. Big mistake on my part. I wish that I had paid attention to what previous reviews have said. I am about half way through this and am ready to give it up. I have been an audible customer for almost nine years. I have given one star in only three books. Unless Patricia Cornwell changes drastically she has lost me as a listener.

    I should have learned by now to take endorsements from otherwise credible sources with a grain of salt. The best I can say about this overrated/overhyped book is that the story line was interesting and character development good, however it quickly became disjointed and, frankly, boring. The primary narrator was pretty good---in fact he should have done the entire recording, because the second narrator, assuming the role of the scribe, was just awful----to the extent that I couldn't stand to listen to it. Thankfully, it was a short book but I was still unable to stick with it to the end.
