It really helps you clarify practical methods and changes your perception about servicing customers, growing existing customers, and how to treat them. Will try some of their others. This mentions them, and I like when a new book comes out that summarizes info from past books so you get a good value deal here. This book could be the one that gets you on your way.

Hurry up and read. Its pretty much about its topic line. Mostly common sense stuff, but a good listen. It tells you about meditation and how it helps you center yourself. Its practical in describing the rewards and benefits that come from it. I would recommend this and a few more in the series to help you understand meditation. This one is not trying to push the envelope on the benefits and sounds geniue in its presentation. You will fell like you got your credits worth and I am glad I listened. If you have an interest in meditation, I think you will find this good base info.

Gare's greatest hits:
  • The Charisma Myth: How Anyone Can Master the Art and Science of Personal Magnetism

"An excellent treatment of a fascinating topic."

    Overall
    Performance
    Story

My library includes some 700 books, many about similar topics. This book is near the top. The central message of this book is that you must control your internal monologue to be effective in interpersonal interactions. The book had just the right amount of scientific data to keep a scientist interested, and just enough animated discussion to make it a delightful page turner.

I have been working on my internal monologue for many years, so this book came a bit late for me. But for those who suffer from brain ANTS (automatic negative thoughts), I recommend first that you read Feel The Fear and Do it Anyway, then this book and you will be much more effective in your daily life.

  • The Power of Who: You Already Know Everyone You Need To Know

Would you try another book from Bob Beaudine and/or Bob Beaudine?

    No

What was most disappointing about Bob Beaudine’s story?

This a Mitt Romney type of story, like the comment if you need money for college borrow it from your parents. This guy is some sort of religious nut who believes that everyone has rich and powerful friends. This book is written for people who don't really need any help. His assumptions are ludacris and his facts are unsupported.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bob Beaudine’s performances?

    No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment

    Any additional comments?

If you are not already well connected to a bunch of rich influential people...skip it.

  • No More Mr. Nice Guy!

    "Embarrassingly good"

    Overall

    Story

A very adult look at what I have been doing wrong in my life. A lot of new information, and some very fresh perspectives. It's funny, I'm not a typical nice guy. I'm strong, successful and have had a life of successful relationships. But, I still find that the women in my life are not carrying their weight especially in the bedroom. This book helped me to realize that many of my methods are flawed with unhelpful pride and crushing shame.

I would hope that there is a similar book written for women. But this book is an often uncomfortable but important read.

  • Getting Past Your Past: Take Control of Your Life With Self-Help Techniques from EMDR Therapy

"A competent introduction to a very useful method."

    Overall
    Performance
    Story

This eye movement methodology of managing and intergrating memory is going to be huge. It opens the door to a wide array of both human and automated techniques for managing the mind and memory in particular. I found the presentation to be a bit whinney and the narrator seemed more emotional than a therapist perhaps ought to be, but the information is quite solid. I have already begun using the techniques on my friends who have recently undergone some emotional trauma.

Some will enjoy it much more than others, but most will benefit from reading it.

  • "Maybe I Could Go to Four and One-Ha..."

    14 of 14 helpful votes

This is a great book on principled negotiation. As a lawyer and mediator, the concepts in this book were not new to me, but the book puts things together in a very organized and easily understood package. I will certainly be recommending it to some of my clients.

If there is one thing that detracts from the book, it is that many of the examples remain dated. I am afraid that, to a younger listener, the book might seem somewhat obsolete. Of course, that is not true at all -- the concepts and principles, which are actually rather new in the grand scheme of things -- remain very valid.

Perhaps this would not have jumped out to me except for the fact that the authors make the point at the beginning that this is a revised and updated edition of a classic. Revised, maybe. Updated? Not so much.

Still, the book contains many timeless and valuable lessons.

The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Fulfillment and Exuberance says: "Love Brene Brown, didn't like the narrator"
