Steven Levy has successfully gathered all the details necessary to tell the story of Google - to the present in early 2011. The most interesting sections deal with Google's experience in China, insights into the Google culture in the US and abroad, and how particular decisions were made from the beginning. The growth of Google is here, conflict along the way is presented, and the ethical and technological challenges covered. The only downside of the book - it is too early to know how Google will adjust to being a a "big company." A benefit of the Audible version is the "extra" interview section at the end. The reading of L. J. Ganser is excellent, the writing is engaging, and the book informative.

I read about everything I can get my hands on related to neuroplasticity. David Rock in Your Brain at Work: Strategies for Overcoming Distraction, Regaining Focus, and Working Smarter All Day Long applies what we have learned so far about the brain in that context and applies it to the world of work. This is one practical, easy to follow, informative guide. Rock is particularly strong at presenting the most recent research and applying it to every day practice. He not only tells us what is known, but how to use that knowledge to advantage. This is just an excellent volume. Don’t miss it. The reading of Bob Walter is very good.

Lewis and Dart have provided a great service to the general reader and those interested in the contemporary retail environment. They place US-based retail in historical context, explain where the industry is now and what the future may hold. Now, if you have noticed a dramatic change in access to the retail experience over the past few years, you are not alone. Lewis and Dart explain what this environment means. Individuals interested in the US economy, retail in general, political and social trends in the country, will be rewarded for reading this book. Those more close involved in retail or knowledeable may find this book less helpful. Both groups will find the speculations about the future of retail in the US thought provoking. The narration of Brian O'Neill is very good.

What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.
