Fr. Dear makes a powerful argument for the support of vegetarianism through Christianity, showing that eating meat supports environmental degradation, poor health, global poverty, and animal abuse, and arguing that each of these is antithetical to Christian living.© PETA Foundation Christianity Ministry & Evangelism

Such a wonderful story that helps support those of us Christians who practice vegetarianism. It also provides nonjudgmental guidance, for anyone who is considering changing their diet to practice more compassion and lend more grace to the least of these.

Dear delivers this most important message in a brief little series of notes. If we want to fully follow the Gospel message of non-violence, we need to open our eyes to this remaining example of modern man's atrocities.

A most important message

Taken in a holistic sense - this book ultimately tries to instill a sense simply that vegitarianism is a path to betterment - for self and society.

Carnivoires and herbivores will both glean insights here. Simply this book is a positive statement that living lightly and with a conscious connection to all creatures is important. Ultimately illuminating this delicate symbiosis we call life.

Be kind.

Veganism is the answer. Vegetarianism is a step towards setting things right, but the aim must be to omit ALL animal products. Dairy industries worldwide treat cows abysmally, remove their calves from them while the cows cry, just like mothers would. Chickens suffer in egg production- the male chicks are ground alive and made into blood and bone and some are added to pet food. Some of the ground up male chicks are dried and mixed in with chickenfeed. Laying hens suffer tremendously right through their lives. Debeaking and a practice of forced regeneration of egg laying by withholding food water and light, during which a third die, is unutterably cruel. ALL animal products must be outlawed. Granted, up and until 15 years ago, few people even knew veganism existed. It is growing, and vegans are healthier than vegetarians!

Very good arguments.
