Publisher's Summary

In the summer of 1942, a band of citizen soldiers were brought together by the desire to be better than the other guy. At its peak, Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, was as good a rifle company as any in the world. From their rigorous training in Georgia in 1942 through Utah Beach, Market-Garden, the Bulge, and Hitler's Eagle's Nest, WWII historian Stephen Ambrose tells the story of this remarkable company. In combat, the reward for a job well done is the next tough assignment, and the men of Easy Company kept getting the tough assignments, from parachuting into France early D-Day morning to capturing Hitler's Bavarian outpost.

What the Critics Say

Great read, great listen, just disappointed there is no unabridged version. Cannot give 5 stars on an abridged version.

I loved the TV series, and this is another look at the same group of men from the series. A little more detail here and there than the show had. If you liked the show you'll like this. Only thing I didn't like is that it is a little short.

I purchased this audio book after having watched the miniseries many times. I love the story. I love Stephen Ambrose. I love Stephen Ambrose's voice (he narrated D-Day). The narrator of this book does a respectable job, but no one can follow Stephen Ambrose.

I actually had to stop listening to this. The mispronounciations were as fingernails on a chalkboard.

Spectacular work by a great historian and story teller. Explains and supports the mini-series of the same name. This is a must read for any WWII history buff.
