Publisher's Summary

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack - who has already killed Bod's family.

Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times best-selling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.

A touching, charming tale of death and life, full of wit and magic. The plot is worn and familiar, but Gaiman's attention to detail in his prose, as well as his beautiful reading, make the story as comfortable as a blanket on a chilly evening.

I bought this book because of the rave reviews... not because of the description of the book. It started slowly for me, I almost thought I had made a mistake. Then, it sucked me in. Very cute and original story. The narrator (the author) was brilliant!

I listened to the book in order to see which one of my sons to give it to (14 or 7 year old). I enjoyed it, but had a hard time figuring out who would be interesed in it. 14 year-old - not anymore, and 7 year-old might be just fine, except for the graffic details of the murder sceene at the beginning of the book. So far the youngest had listened to the first half, and quit.

I even began to look forward to the drive to work or hope for traffic - Neil Gaiman has the most engaging voice, a real story teller.
