There's trouble at the Castle, and it's all because Merrin Meredith has returned with Darke plans for Septimus. More trouble awaits Septimus and Jenna in the form of Tertius Fume, the ghost of the very first Chief Hermetic Scribe, who is determined to send Septimus on a deadly Queste.
Septimus and Jenna have other plans, however. They are headed for the mysterious House of Foryx, a place where all Time meets and the place where they fervently hope they will be able to find Nicko and Snorri, who were trapped back in time in physik. But how will Septimus escape the Queste?
Queste, like all the books in the Septimus Heap series, is filled with nonstop action, humor, and fantastical adventure, as Septimus continues his journey of Magykal self-discovery.

Book Four, like the others in the Septimus Heap series, is filled with action, drama, and quirky characters, and narrator Gerard Doyle excels in managing all of these elements. Doyle takes listeners along on Septimus's Magykal journey. This time, there's trouble at the Castle, with Merrin Meredith out to get Septimus, who is himself trying to rescue Nicko, who's trapped in another time. Doyle pulls out all the stops as he spins this tale with insightful characterizations (he gives depth even to that sorry piece of work, Merrin) and shrewd timing (he expertly plays up Sage's cliff-hanger chapter ends). Sage's lighter, more humorous moments and little insights on human nature are also amply available to listeners in this pleasing production. (c) AudioFile 2008
