Abridged too much

It has been years since I read the book but this seems to have been shortened drastically. It was not bad but it was disappointing.

I wish this was unabridged

This is one of the funniest books. I read it years ago-- and the abridged story is like watching the movie-- still very funny, but so much is missing. The quality of the recording is bad, but the reading was good, and the story is fun.

Nostalgia Filled

For the past week or so I have been struggling to read. Nothing has seemed to grab my attention and due to stress & drama in my life I had to put down books that I would have otherwise loved. Needless to say, I needed something that would help put a smile to my face. I've been putting off reading The Princess Bride simply because I love the movie so much. It's one of those books where I have always worried that it would ruin the movie so I've always put it off even though I owned the book for years. With the mood I've been in, I figured that this was the perfect time to revisit old characters in a new way and boy am I happy I did.

The Princess Bride is a cute quick read. The audiobook has a fantastic narrator & I loved Rob Reiner reading the book to me. It just made it that much better. Don't expect this book to be a beautifully written masterpiece because it isn't. The writing is basic and it's definitely a midgrade book. It's something that you can read to your children and know that they too will enjoy the actionpacked book.

All in all, I'm giving this 5 caffeinated stars. Partially due to nostalgia but mainly due to it being a dang good midgrade book that is sure to pull you into the story.

As you wish...

This is everything you want from this story, without some of the things you don't necessarily need, especially if you're a fan of the movie. As for the narration, well you just can't get any better than the director of the film Rob Reiner bringing it to life with the comedy, adventure, and romance it deserves, reminiscent of his greatest movie and quite possibly the greatest of all time! Anybody want a peanut?

It has everything !

This is my favorite audiobook! The story has everything: humor, action and adventure! The narration is on point and makes a great story even better. This my go to when I can’t fall asleep or need a pick me up. I have probably listened to it 20 times already. A must if you love the movie! AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

Classic

I love this story and has been a childhood classic. While the narrator sharing stuff about himself personally was interesting I feel it distracted from the overall story.

Wonderful Delightful

Love the behind the scenes information. And reminiscences, especially of an old friend.

You

Fascinating listen for Princess Bride movie enthusiasts. Fun to hear how the story and, in particular, the lines changes (and improved!) from book to screenplay. Ending is a bit rushed, confusing and disappointing but well worth the listen.

a classic-abridged

I liked, and disliked, this book! The performance was wonderful. I felt the abridgement left out too many memorable parts. I think I will try to find the ORIGINAL book!
