Publisher's summary

Oliver Sharpe, the Marquess of Stoneville, has been London's most notorious rake for years. Fed up with his behavior, his grandmother threatens to disinherit him if he doesn't tame his wild ways and wed within the year. Outraged, Oliver decides to hire a woman from a brothel to pose as his fiancée to prove that he can't be forced into marriage.

When he meets Maria Butterfield, a beautiful American woman who is searching for her fiancé in the most unlikely of places, he knows she's perfect for his ruse. But before long, Oliver finds himself willing to risk anything to make Maria his - even his heart, and the dark secret he hides inside it.

Please don't waste your time or your money

Oh my. If cheap, formulaic romance fiction is your preferred genre, then help yourself to this one. Maybe you can stand it. This one is definitely not for me. I tried. After all, I had spent a credit on it! I made it about halfway through but by that point, I was laughing out loud at situations and lines that were not meant to be funny. It was just so over the top. So ridiculous. The situations, the language, the salacious and totally unbelievable sex scenes - I just could not take any more. Be warned!

Okay plot, terrible narrator

Terrible audio quality on this recording - sounded like someone was reading in a closet. Narrator was terrible! Wrong English accent for the aristocracy - and little or no differentiation in character voices. I had a long drive with only this book available to listen and decided silence was better.

Good story

It was a good story, but it was wierd to listen to the guy's voice when he was trying to do the female character. Specially during certain scenes when they were kissing, etc.

I really liked this book and the narrator

If you could sum up The Truth about Lord Stoneville in three words, what would they be?

Scheming, Romantic, Sweet

What did you like best about this story?

The story was fast paced. It kept my interest throughout and I found the story of Oliver and Maria very sweet. I love stories with happy endings.

What about James Clamp’s performance did you like?

I usually prefer to have male narrators for romance novels. Not all female narrators can pull off reading the lines of male characters. With that said, I liked that a man with an actual English accent read this story. It was a pleasant voice with a pleasant cadence.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Grandma knows best.

Any additional comments?

This is my first book with this author. I will definitely read all the other stories in this series. I like Hattie, the grandma, and I want to see how the rest of her grandkids manage to make love happen.

Lame, Formulaic Storyline

The storyline is just so formulaic and boring. A very weak story created as an excuse to get from one seduction/sex scene to another. I'm all for light entertainment and I wasn't expecting some deep story - but this is just bad.
