Publisher's Summary

MacKayla Lane's ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland's shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.

In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh - a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the world of the Fae and of Man.

Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V'lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.

What the Critics Say

"Moning's delectable Mac is breathlessly appealing, and the wild perils she must endure are peppered with endless conundrums. The results are addictively dark, erotic and even shocking." (Publishers Weekly)
"Spiced with a subtle yet delightfully sharp sense of humor...delectably dark and sexy." (Chicago Tribune)

I started the Fever Series immediately after the Highland series. It has some similarities (a few characters) but ultimately - not the same style of writing or storyline development. It rambles on at times and each book in this series does not end. It basically stops in a mid-thought. I've always hated books that basically "force you" to purchase the next installment to reach the end of the story. I have completed all in this series and everyone is the same - no ending - a lot of unanswered questions, and a lot of repetition since the writer is trying to fill the reader with the information from the last book. I wish publishers would stop this practice and create a 1000 page book that starts and finishes without the repetition (or here's a thought - end each book with a decent ending). Overall, I really like this author but I really dislike this series.

This book takes a turn from the Highlander series. The Highlander series engages a new hero and heroine in each novel, with the baritone voice of Phil Gigante who reads through the steamy passages that no one would dare silence. This first book of the Fever series sets up the same heroine into the next novel, with her relationships with the hero (s) still in the air, somewhat unfulfilling to the reader. The female narrator reads the heroine well, but not the male gaelic counterpart. Still, Moning's books are magical and intriguing and good fantastical diversions.

Being able to listen to the first 4 books in the Dream series one right after another increased my enjoyment of them immensely. I really liked the glimpse of the McKelter's, short as it was, too. I always enjoy Joyce Bean's narration of books, she does an excellent job with all I've heard her do.

I am 21 years old, everyone around me has been hyped over the twilight series which bored me to tears. Does he love me? Boo. Then in Borders I found a promo of the first couple chapters of this book, hooked I picked up Dark fever, the first book in the Fever series. This series is dark, sexy, and oddly humorous. It's a fantasy tale that saved me during a time I picked up books and never read them, which is not very economical. It's an easy read, an lot's of fun for passing time. I highly recommend this.
