Publisher's Summary

Only once in a great while does a writer come along who defies comparison - a writer so original he redefines the way we look at the world. Neal Stephenson is such a writer and Snow Crash is such a novel, weaving virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility to bring us the gigathriller of the information age.

In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince. Plunging headlong into the enigma of a new computer virus that's striking down hackers everywhere, he races along the neon-lit streets on a search-and-destroy mission for the shadowy virtual villain threatening to bring about Infocalypse. Snow Crash is a mind-altering romp through a future America so bizarre, so outrageous...you'll recognize it immediately.

On a long drive from Colorado through Texas to Tennessee alone I was thoroughly entertained and enlightened. A thousand miles passed immersed in a new future imagined and realized. A fascinating future described in intimate detail. Alternate lives as avatars in a strange new land unfold in a captivating story filled with philosophy and technology. There is so much going on here and so many of those who reviewed this book must have missed it.

At 64 I doubt I am part of the target audience but I opened my mind and let this book flow through me like the broken yellow line on the unfolding ribbon of asphalt through the windshield of my Vibe GT. What a thrill ride! Like a skateboard messenger hooked to a speeding pizza delivery guy working for the Mafia I surfed the future and wound up richer for the experience of this long strange trip. dig it

Showing how much foul language you know is not writing and diffently not the makings of a good book. There may have been a good story in hear somewhere but the language turned me off. Just like Stephen King has a wonderful imagination, I still refuse to read his books because I feel his writing style is more in fouling and grossing his reader out. Some think it is realistic but I don't read or listen to fiction for realism. Therefore I will not read or listen to anything by Neal Stephenson again.

Lots of computer stuff going on in this book so it appeals to the nerd in me. Characters are diverse and interesting. Plot is entertaining and keeps you guessing until the end (and even some more guessing until a second listen to some parts). Overall a solid scifi experience.
Narration is pretty good in my opinion with some nice bits of voice acting in places.
I got this title after finding Neal Stephenson's Anathem and loving it. Snow Crash is not quite as good but still definitely worth a listen.

I am a big fan of Stephenson, so Snow Crash did not let me down and Davis did a good job of 'telling' the story. I wish I could have given it 4.5 stars but it wasn't up to some of my favorites (Crypto, etc) so it didn't warrant a 5'er for me.

Interesting story with a lean towards the Internet, or how the Internet could look. The story jumps around at times, and is a bit hard to follow. Other then that it's a good listen
