One day in 1872 in the Reformer's Club in London, Phileas Fogg takes up a wager to journey 'round the world in 80 days. He is accompanied by his valet, Passepartout, and a detective named Fix, who has been assigned by the Reformer's Club to observe his movements. Showing fortitude and endless resourcefulness, Fogg and his companions narrowly escape from barbarians, hostile mobs, and schemers during their journey.Public Domain (P)2007 Jimcin Recordings Classics

Editorial reviews

A towering novel in the pantheon of 19th century literature, Jules Verne’s Around the World in Eighty Days has been the inspiration for adaptations and homages in nearly every genre. A swashbuckling adventure tale in a line from Cervantes and Homer, the story focuses on a staid English gentleman Phileas Fogg, who makes a bet that he can circumnavigate the globe and return to his social club in 80 days. The audiobook is performed in the distinguished baritone of classics’ veteran Walter Covell and features such well-loved adventures as the rescue of a condemned Indian woman, an attack by Sioux warriors in America, and mutiny on the high seas. Around the World in Eighty Days endures and lives again in this pleasing audiobook performance.
