Publisher's Summary

Plum Sykes' beguiling debut welcomes readers to the glamorous world of Park Avenue Princesses, the girls who careen through Manhattan in search of the perfect Fake Bake (tan acquired from Portofino Tanning Salon), a ride on a PJ (private jet) with the ATM (rich boyfriend), and the ever-elusive fiance.

With invitations to high-profile baby showers and benefits, more Marc Jacobs clothes than is decent, and a department store heiress for a best friend, our heroine known only as Moi is living at the peak of New York society. But what is Moi to do when her engagement falls apart? Can she ever find happiness in a city filled with the distractions of Front Row Girls, dermatologists, premieres, and eyebrow waxes? Is it possible to find love in a town where her friends think that the secret to happiness is getting invited to the Van Cleef and Arpels uber-private sample sale? And how is she going to deal with the endless phone calls from her mother in England demanding that she get married to the Earl next door?

With enormous wit and an insider's eye, Sykes captures the nuances of the rich and spoiled in a heartwarming social satire, featuring a loveable "champagne bubble of a girl" who's just looking for love (and maybe the perfect pair of Chloi jeans).

What the Critics Say

"This is a savvy and viciously funny trip into a glittery, glitzy world we sure wouldn't want to live in - but by which we're more than happy to be vicariously consumed for the length of a book." (Publishers Weekly)
"A breathless, sweetly tongue-in-cheek examination of the lifestyles and arcane social mores of the young, rich, and glamorous." (Booklist)

I had a hard time finding any reason to give this book even one star- it is a complete waste of time. If you want to read something about spoiled, self indulgent characters leading incredibly boring lives, this book is for you.

This book was a fun romp that makes a perfect book for the beach. Of course there is nothing too heavy and it is completely predictable, but hey this is summer. Lighten' up!
The characters lead silly, spoiled lives and they are completely shallow. All and all it makes for a great listen. So maybe there is no deep social or political message, but who cares! If you want to make up for it with something more serious you can always listen to Tolstoy this winter.
The narrator is perfect, absolutely brilliant, and one of the best I have heard in a long time.
If you want something light while you're basking in the sun or going for a drive this is a great choice.

This story is about a shallow girl, and all her shallow rich friends. They do outlandish things, are very spoiled and live lives we little people can only read about ;)

The story was good, but if you're a reader, you'll likely have it figured out early on. Even so, the narration was great and kept me engaged the entire time.

Now, I just need to find myself a PH with a PJ and we'll be all set :) (You'll get the references once you listen to the story!)

This was my first audiobook and it was SO enjoyable. First of all, the narration was perfect for the story - I love her accents! Secondly, the story was definitely lighthearted and entertaining: if you want something serious, this is SO not for you. If you enjoy fashion, shopping, and fun girly entertainment, this will cover all your bases. A guilty pleasure to make your commute to work (or, like me, your tanning bed time) a little less boring.
