Publisher's Summary

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer, and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope, and finds love is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?

If you are looking for a lighthearted humorous book, then this book is for you. It really did make me laugh out loud at times. Not classic literature by any means, but it was an enjoyable listen.

Sophia Kinsella has hit on a winning formula with her books and it is working for her. The problem with this book is that the formula seems to be the only thing in it. The plot development is so predicable that you can practically tell the story yourself. Similarly, the points of humour can be spotted even before they are developed. All of the characters lack depth and have very little motivation for acting as they do. There is the distinct impression that this novel was just dashed off quickly in order to fulfill a contractual obligation.
Rosalyn Landor is an excellent narrator but even her skills couldn't make this a book that would hold your attention.

I could really relate with this character and to step away from the rat race is something that makes me long for at times. I not only really liked this book but could imagine myself in her shoes. This book was wonderfully written and well narrated. Other reviewers are correct in that it's probably better on audiobook because you get the English accent.

I love Sophie Kinsella audio books.. They MUST be audio because part of the fun effect is having the book narrated by a Brit... I have listened to almost ALL of her books and experienced great enjoyment!!! I had truckers on the freeway honk their air horns at me because they could see I was alone in my vehicle but hysterically laughing! I'm sure they were quite curious as to my behavior.
