Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.

Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age 13, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate, a life and a role that she has never challenged, until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister, and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.

My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister's Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

This was one of the most intense books I have ever listened to. The narrative is amazing and the story is compelling. I do not often review books because I know everyone has their own preference but this definately deserves a splendid review. The reseach and story development is almost beyond reality and yet it feels like it is now totally part of my life. It is now a movie and I understand the ending is different and I do not know how I feel about that, I will have to see the movie. I can say the ending was totally unexpected by me. Great Book - I will definately search out more books from this author.

This is a great book, very captivating, but unbelievably sad. I listen to my audio books a lot while driving, which was difficult with this book. There are many narrarators for this book, which can be nice, but can also be distracting. However, the story line itself will keep you captivated. ENJOY!

Okay, so the writing was okay, and the narration was absolutely excellent.

The premise of the book is so kooky and contrived that it failed to elicit any sympathy from me. It seems perfectly obvious that the idea of conceiving a child specifically and only so that you can use them as a tissue bank to prolong (not save, but prolong) your other child's life is just wrong.

This story absolutely would have worked for me if Anna had already been born when Kate was diagnosed, but as it's written, I didn't find the book thought-provoking in any way at all.

And the ending? Least satisfying ending since the movie version of Stephen King's "It".

At the end of the book, I had to fight the urge to jump on an airplane so that I could find Jodi Picoult's house and throw rocks at it while screaming obscenities from the curb. "Here, spend 13 and a half hours with my book, and in the last ten minutes, I'm going to make your entire 13 hours into a total waste of time."

Jodi Picoult, I want my thirteen hours and twenty minutes back! And my credit, too.

This was the first Jodi Picoult book I'd read and it was fantastic. It was so descriptive (without droning) and pulled at all the right heart-strings. I will never see the movie they've made though cuz I would bawl my eyes out in the theatre lol. FANTASTIC book.
