The planet Lusitania is home to three sentient species: the Pequeninos, a large colony of humans, and the Hive Queen, who was brought there by Ender Wiggin. But now, once again, the human race has grown fearful; the Starways Congress has gathered a fleet to destroy Lusitania. Ender's oldest friend, Jane, an evolved computer intelligence, can save the three sentient species of Lusitania. She has learned how to move ships outside the universe, and then instantly back to a different world, abolishing the light-speed limit. But it takes all the processing power available to her, and the Starways Congress is shutting down the network of computers in which she lives, world by world.

Soon Jane will not be able to move the ships. Ender's children must save her if they are to save themselves.

Critic reviews

“The novels of Orson Scott Card's Ender series are an intriguing combination of action, military and political strategy, elaborate war games and psychology.” —USA Today

“In his afterword, Card declares, ‘The ideal presentation of any book of mine is to have excellent actors perform it in audio only format,' and he gets his wish. Card's phenomenal emotional depth comes through in the quiet, carefully paced speech of each performer. This is a wonderful way to experience Card's best-known and most celebrated work, both for longtime fans and for newcomers.” —Publishers Weekly on Ender's Game

“The cast… gives life to the emotional and intellectual challenge of the story. Brilliant and compelling.” —AudioFile on Speaker for the Dead

All of the Ender series are excelletn but you have to have a taste for philosophy. You need to have read the previous books in order to really make sense of this last of the current series since refereneces to the previous books and events in them are sparse.

Excellent Book

It is a great book, but keep in mind that this book is fairly heavy (in a philosophical sense) and that you require to read (listen) the book before it for some much needed context.

Lovely but heavy

Card and the performers truly please with the story and captured emotion in the reading of this epic classic finale to the Ender Saga. I cannot wait to listen to Enders Shadow as I continue to learn more about the Universe Card has created, in a way I've literally never heard before. Growing up reading these books was amazing to me, but being able to listen to them again and live the same story in a whole new way is truly an experience I cherish. I can't wait to go to work so I can listen to more of these books.

An excellent finale to the Ender Saga.

This was an incredible wrap up to the series, I loved it so much. And the narration was impeccable as well!

I’ve finished a good portion of the Ender’s series and enjoyed this book, although it did drag in in spots. The subplots were interesting and came together well.

I enjoyed most of the voice actors, but it disturbs me that the Asian narrator was, well, Asian. It loses something in the translation and becomes almost insulting.

I think this was an interesting way to end the character.

Interesting ending
