Accompanied by the aelven assassin Maleneth Witchblade, Gotrek marches to war with the Fyreslayers of the Grymm Peak Mountains, with a newfound sense of purpose. Publisher's summary
Gotrek & Felix Book 12
The forces of the dead close in, commanded by the infamous Lichemaster, forcing Gotrek and Felix to take refuge in an ancient castle. But as the undead lay siege to the fortress, doom seems close at hand...
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
It's a good old-fashioned siege story starring Gotrek and Felix, with waves of zombies battering against the defences of an ancient castle while mysterious events and deadly rivalries threaten destruction from within…
THE STORY
Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask…
Pursued by the dark forces of the necromancer Heinrich Kemmler, Gotrek and Felix arrive at Castle Reikgard, where they must hold out against the zombie hordes. The brutality of the siege is unremitting as wave after wave of horrific creatures, led by the undead champion Krell, attempt to take the walls. With supplies running low and morale sinking, the defenders begin to hear terrible whispers and endure awful nightmares. Suspicion and paranoia run rampant within the castle walls, and the defence seems impossible.
Can Gotrek and Felix hold out against Kemmler's ever-growing legion until help arrives, or will the Slayer find his doom amidst the unrelenting undead?

In the bleak, haunted underworld of Shyish, a vengeful Slayer seeks the Lord of Undeath. Gotrek Gurnisson returns, his oaths now ashes alongside the world-that-was, his fury undiminished. Branded with the Master Rune of Grimnir, the God that betrayed him, and joined by Maleneth Witchblade, a former Daughter of Khaine turned agent of the Order of Azyr, the hunt has taken them far and wide through the Realm of Death. Will Gotrek find a path to the Undying King or will the underworlds claim him as their own?

Easily one of my top favorites in the series
While generally Skavenslayer has a special place in my heart, this was certainly a favorite in a different way. I won't go into details to spoil it, but I'm amazed how a series this long is still interesting to me. Rarely do I finish 3 books in a series, but this book was satisfying and again am waiting for the next audiobook to come out. Still dark but manages to have moments that are comical. Highly recommend.

Phenomenal, must read!
Can GOTREK and Felix be stopped?
I think not.
The duo has survived daemons, orca, dragon, troll, vampires, shamans, dark elves and a multitude of other evil forces.
Despite all the battering and sticky situation’s they wiggle their way free and survive.
How?
The gods?
The rune-axe?
Who knows but it’s great prose, and they killing pros!

More suspense than outright adventure is still a great addition. It feels more like a setup for future novels.

A great bumble power fantasy as always a definite must for the collection. Definitely saw some of the twists but that mostly came from familiarity to the universe
