Light listen

Had a fun story line that was easy to listen to. Was a good break from heavy stories that I listen to a lot.

Cute story! I loved Henry and McKenna

This rom-com is believable, well-written and has an interesting plot line. At the beginning I got a little irritated with the sound of the narrators voice. But I slowed the audio down just a notch and it was fine. I really enjoyed this book.

Eh. Made tolerable by good narration

Felt like I needed a bingo card for all of the random erroneous references/details… yet the two major life changing issues (the job and love story) were spared important details. Honestly, as a 40 year old myself- felt like the heroine was more likely to be 25 than almost 40. The story itself could have been successful - if plot holes and weird tangents were more polished and thought through.

Just a solid, good, sweet story

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. I wanted to be part of this family by the time I finished the book. The love story between the main characters is so sweet, and I love the lesson that it’s great to know who you are and what you want, but it’s also great to reevaluate what you want, make new decisions, and chase new dreams.

I do so like books that have a real feel to them..

Though the first part had me wondering where the story was going, the last 2/3 made it worth waiting. I love how real the thought life and conversations are. The family relationship struggles lend credence too. But best of all, I love the quips and flirting between the main characters. The author creates a fine "in love" tension without ever going too far!

I love this book. A wonderful story line. I’d love to see a sequel to the story. Each character could have their own. I’ll be watching.

Funny and Refreshing

My usual genre is more along the lines of fantasy or science fiction. But, this book popped up as a suggestion and I decided to try something different. I enjoyed that the main character was 38 as often romances feature younger main characters. Since I am about the same age as the main character, I identified with all of the pop culture references sprinkled throughout. I laughed out loud several times. This is a good, clean romance that is funny. There were interesting subplots and drama as well. I'd read another book from this author.

What a beautiful story- an instant favorite

I cannot say enough about how I loved this book. My words won’t do it justice. From the beginning, I was in awe of the author’s style, most particularly the humor and beauty of the internal voice of the character bringing me into her world. I don’t think I have ever fully understood and cared about every single side character to this extent in a romcom. I also have never laughed as much or worried so much over where the little pieces of the story might fall for the MC. The romance was so sweet, clean, deep, genuine, and realistically character-driven. But this was more than a romcom. It was so smart, researched, and a love letter to home, family, friends, dreams, and change, I knew it before I got to the ending- that this was going up on the pedestal with my all-time favorites. But the ending…it sealed the deal. Read this book!
